Meet Lewey, a sweet 1 year old, 27.5-pound Beagle who spent approximately four months surviving on his own, wandering as a stray and trying to make it through each day. Despite numerous efforts, no one came forward looking for him, and there were no reports of him missing. Thankfully, Lewey's story took a turn for the better when a compassionate family refused to give up on him. After weeks of trying, they were finally able to safely trap and rescue him. His rescuers immediately got him veterinary care, vaccinations, and, most importantly, a safe place to begin healing. It's clear that Lewey has not always been treated with the kindness he deserves. He can be timid and cautious when meeting new people, but every day, this brave little Beagle is learning that not all humans will hurt him. And the progress he has made is incredible. Lewey absolutely adores other dogs. In fact, his foster family's dog has become his security blanket, best friend, teacher, and confidence coach all rolled into one.
