Story
Meet Comet & Chardonnay! 🐾🤎 Some bonds are simply too special to break, and Comet and Chardonnay are the perfect example. These two precious pups have been through everything together, and now they’re looking for a forever home where they can continue their journey side by side. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Comet is a gorgeous champagne-colored Lab mix with a big heart and an affectionate soul. He can be a little anxious and sometimes needs extra reassurance to feel safe and secure, but having his best friend Chardonnay by his side makes all the difference. Comet is also the more vocal of the two and isn’t afraid to let you know what he’s thinking! Chardonnay is a precious Beagle mix with a quiet, sweet demeanor and a little more confidence than her brother. She’s the calmer, more outgoing half of this dynamic duo and absolutely loves cuddling—especially when she gets to snuggle up with Comet. Her gentle presence helps Comet feel safe, and together, they make the perfect pair. These two have been each other’s constant through thick and thin. They’ve survived everything life has thrown their way, and their love and loyalty to one another are truly beautiful to see. They’re looking for a patient, loving human who understands that Comet may need a little extra time and reassurance to feel comfortable, and who will cherish the special bond these two share. If you have room in your heart for two incredibly special dogs, Comet and Chardonnay are ready to find a family who will never separate them. Give them the chance to continue their story together, and you’ll gain not one, but two best friends for life. 🤎 Fill out a Match Me form online at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CAST/Dog to be preapproved. All C.A.R.E rescue dogs are vaccinated, heart-worm tested, spayed/neutered, and microchipped! So all you need to provide is the love. Our adoption fee is a minimum $150 tax deductible donation. All donations are used for rescue and medical care of animals in need. If you don't have room to take home a pet but want to support our efforts to save animals in need, please consider making a donation.   If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2815464##

Story
Meet Rip & Zip! Rip and Zip arrived at the shelter together after being picked up running at large by Animal Control. Unfortunately, despite waiting and hoping, neither dog was ever claimed. That's a shame, because they are both wonderful dogs who deserve a second chance. While they were found together, each has his own personality. Rip is the more confident of the two, happy to explore and take on new experiences with enthusiasm. Zip is a little more people-focused and tends to stick close by, making him an especially sweet and affectionate companion. Neither lacks confidence, but Zip definitely prefers having his favorite person nearby. Both boys are friendly, affectionate, and eager to please. They seem accustomed to being around people and enjoy attention, but the leash was clearly a new experience for them when they arrived. They're learning quickly and have already shown that they want to do the right thing. Rip and Zip are available for adoption individually and would each make a wonderful addition to the right home. They simply need families willing to continue teaching them the basics and showing them the love and stability they deserve.
