Meet Toboggan. Toby for short, because yelling “TOBOGGAN” across the yard might cause your neighbors to wonder if you’re okay. Toby is a 4½-year-old beagle who was found six months ago. The people who found him have been caring for him, but he needs a permanent home. We’re looking for a foster because, despite his excellent ears and obvious qualifications, he has been unsuccessful at securing his own housing. His caregivers say he’s friendly with adults, kids, strangers, other dogs, and even cats and small animals. Absolutely embarrassing lack of commitment to the whole “be suspicious of everyone” thing. Now, before anyone asks: No, he is not potty trained. He has lived outside his entire time with his caregivers. Nobody has explained indoor plumbing etiquette to him, and shockingly, he has not independently researched it. He will need patience, consistency, and actual training. Your rug policy was not included in his orientation packet. He also needs to be neutered and brought up to date on vaccines and prevention. We’re still waiting for him to schedule those appointments himself, but his lack of thumbs and health insurance has really slowed things down. What he needs is someone willing to help him learn how to be an indoor dog. A warm place to sleep. Some attention. Companionship. You know, the wildly extravagant lifestyle of being included in a household. Can someone please foster this boy? He comes with floppy ears, little white paws, and absolutely no ability to contribute toward the mortgage. Message Animal Angels Network if you can give Toby a place to land. We’ll handle explaining that “Toboggan” does not mean he’s allowed to slide across your kitchen table.
