Story
Meet Beau!Beau is a six year old loving, cuddly companion with a playful personality and an adventurous spirit. He enjoys exploring, playing, and spending time with his people, but he's just as happy curling up on the couch or in his own bed at the end of the day. Beau is fully potty trained and has excellent nighttime habits—he sleeps quietly in his bed and does not require a crate.Beau could do okay with children. He has a talent for spotting snacks from across the room! Because he loves food, he may help himself to treats from little hands if given the opportunity and is usually a little too rough. Beau thrives with clear boundaries and a confident owner who can continue reinforcing good manners. While he is house trained, he can be a bit enthusiastic and still needs reminders about household etiquette. He is also sensitive about being physically restrained and may react by nipping if someone grabs his collar unexpectedly. Beau has so much to offer to the right family!

Story
Jolene was born around June 24, 2022 and weighs about 20-25 pounds.  Jolene came to us from Kentucky with the one hour at a time volunteer transport team and a very kind overnight foster person.  Everyone along the way adored her as we do now! Jolene did have a home in Kentucky with the town drunk and he tossed her out the front door and said he 'wanted her gone'.  A kind neighbor called her over and kept her until she could get her into the hands of another kind person and then she, tearfully, loaded her in the first transport car to come here to us.  She is very sweet and affectionate and really loves to be carried (good thing she's little) and snuggled with and have her belly rubbed.  Jolene rides well in the car and LOVES to wrestle, play, run, with other dogs and she does need another fun playmate in her next life and a large enough, physically fenced, safe area in which they can release the energy she has.   She is also a very good swimmer.  She is not a constant barker, but when she feels like it she sure can whoop it up and when she is on a trail of some fun odor she can be heard a ways away.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Story
Update 4/2026 We've made the decision to welcome Lucy to the Joyful sanctuary life as she loves us as much as she can ever love a human - especially Jeff!  Lucy makes us laugh every day and we love her even though she is often a crotchety ancient Beagle.  Lucy has become a part of the Joyful family and she would be miserable if she left here and it would be likely she'd be returned shortly after as she wouldn't be happy if all her needs were not catered to as they are here.   Lucy was born about May 20, 2013 and weighs about 22 pounds.  She is one sweet, loving, senior gal that we are so happy to be able to help her not be killed before her time.  We love Lucy and we do realize a forever home for her may or may not come along but no matter she will have a home here until it is her natural time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.  She came in through dog control and when we decided to take the adorable young Beagle named Lottie it was decided that we were not leaving Lucy behind!  With so many changes it did take her a couple days to feel at home and the first sign that she was beginning to realize she was safe and loved was when she jumped up to sit in her foster Dad's lap for the first time.  She hasn't said much since arriving, she enjoys co-mingling with the other dogs but would probably do fine as an only dog or fine with other dogs, maybe a rambunctious puppy would be a bit much.  We assume she has normal breed wanderlust so will need to live in a safe environment.   Now it's time to go over the documented notes from her veterinary visit:  temperature, heart and lungs were good, crinkled cartilage of pinna (ear flap), suspect previous hematoma likely due to persistent scratching because of untreated ear infections and definitive hearing loss is evident, she walks stiff legged with obvious signs of arthritis that would be helped by daily Rimadyl or other anti-inflammatory, there is normal old age cloudiness in her eyes, but sight is adequate for now, her teeth are just filthy and we will be doing a dental for her, but due to the condition another one will likely be needed in the not so distance future.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__N/A______.
