Story
Pickle is a loving a sweet boy who needs a home without other dogs or young children. We adopted him as a puppy with his litter mate and he is a special part of our home. Unfortunately, he has developed food aggression towards the other dogs in our home (1 other beagle and 4 papillons). His latest act of aggression was very close to my two young children and it is too risky to keep him in such a high energy environment where he feels that he is competing for food. He will be a very loving best friend to an owner of his very own.

Story
Meet Sami boy 🥰 this sweet old man just wants love and a comfy place to naps the rest of his days! Sami loves his people, and loves being with them! He is very up and down with dogs we think he’d do well as the only dog or with a very chill dog possibly. He doesn’t love the crate and will let it be known with this beagle bark 😂 he’ll pick up a toy once in a while but mainly likes to 💤 🥰. This sweet boy is so easy especially with routine! We do keep a belly band on him in the house because he does try to mark 💦 on stuff (we have 4 other dogs), but doesn’t mind the band! He follows me everywhere I go in the house 🩷 he’s currently getting treated for heart worms and once he’s clear he’ll be getting neutered! He’s approx 10+ years old and around 17 lbs. Adopt sweet Sami boy 🥰 Apply via www.nyshar.org/applications

Story
Meet Bernie 🥰💚 other than his frequent naps throughout the day- you wouldn’t even know he’s older! This sweet old man loves being pet, playing with his foster siblings and food LOL!! He needs his own space where he can rest without other dogs startling him while sleeping. He likes to chew on toys and loves a comfy dog bed to curl into! Hes not 100% potty trained but since we got him- he has gotten a lot better!! Consistency is key with this guy! Hes good on a leash just a little awkward and stubborn sometimes 😂❤️ and is very good out in every public setting I’ve brought him to and at adoption events! Hes not gonna beg for love unless he’s in the mood- but he is a very good buddy to have around the house 🥰 adopt Bernie!! Www.nyshar.org/applications

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  Pistachio would love to spend his nights snuggled up with just his people while getting belly rubs and giving kisses. Pistachio is a 3 year old beagle who ended up in a local shelter. He is a sweet boy who would do best in a home without young children or other dogs. He likes dogs and kids but is a little nervous that they may take his food. While we don't know what happened to poor Pistachio in the past, we are sure that with the right people, he will have a bright future. Pistachio is currently looking for a foster or forever home Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 23, 2025, 8:28 pm

If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  Sunny, a one-year-old purebred Lemon/White Beagle, is an affectionate and lovable companion. He has a medium energy level and enjoys chewing on toys.  Sunny gets along well with both adults and children, provided there are no food or snacks nearby. We recommend children over 6.  He is housebroken and very curious, loving to run and play. Sunny has also been crate trained. We believe he would thrive best in a calmer home environment with a yard where he can explore and run freely. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 22, 2025, 6:41 pm

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     7M Old Sweet Francis from Puerto Rico. She will bring great happiness to a family. Francis is a 7 month-old cuddle girl. She’s playful, curious, and loves to follow you around the house just to be near you. Hazel already knows how to sit for treats and is doing great with crate training, but doesn’t like to be lonely. She adores snuggling any time of day, lots of time to run, and she gets along wonderfully with kids. She would be happiest in a home that can give her lots of love, patience, and playtime as she continues to grow. She’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and puppy kisses to her new family. All dogs are located in NY/NJ areaAll our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there)Twitter: zanisff Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.
