Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Meet Justin, the 1.5-year-old Beagle with a heart as big as his ears! This 25-pound lovebug is a content couch potato (after a vigorous play session) with a medium/high energy level. His favorite pastime is chasing the faster dogs around the yard - with his ears flapping, it's a hoot! Justin is a social butterfly, finding joy in the company of humans and fellow dogs alike. He is housetrained in his foster's home. This guy's got crate skills too. He sleeps quietly all night in his crate and hops in willingly waiting for a treat.   Justin has strong hunting instincts and while he's not aggressive, he enjoys chasing the resident cat.  Justin's ideal home is one with someone home more often than not, a fenced yard for play or better yet, acreage for chasing those bunnies and maybe a doggie pal to share the love. Ready for a tail-wagging adventure with Justin? He's ready for his family to bring him home!  Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. April 26, 2024, 9:39 am

Story
Matey is a sweet little pup who likes to follow his nose! He is 1.5 years old and 20 lbs. Brought into the shelter as a stray, he's now living the good life in his foster home. He lost his right eye to an infection, but as you can see from the photos, that doesn’t affect him living his best life and he's learned to navigate the world just fine. Hopping into the car for a ride or rushing up the stairs is no problem for this guy! Matey needs verbal cues when you approach from his blind side, which is why he would do best in a home with older kids who understand that. He loves to play with dogs and would enjoy a fenced yard to allow his Beagle nose free roam. He is house and crate trained, and a home on the quieter side and with people that are home often would be best. Matey's ideal family will be able to provide structure and routine, and continue to train him on basic commands and verbal cues to compensate for that missing eye. Matey is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines.. Matey is fostered in PA and will be attending our Adoption Event. Adoption Donation: $500 Rescued by: Brindle Buddies & Friends Reading Pa 19605 Kennel License: 14185 Rescued by: Brindle Buddies & Friends Reading Pa 19605 Kennel License: 14185 Our pets are in CT, GA and PA foster homes. Story
Our Lovable Zena found herself homeless after her owners had a baby and could not handle dog care with a new child. Zena was surrendered directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she did not have to suffer through a shelter process. Now four years old, Zena is ready to begin her second act in life.  Zena appears shy at first, and had not benefited from much socializing or training In her former home. Some pups serve as placeholders in families until the human baby shows up, and then are cast off to fend for themselves in the rescue process. This sad situation left Zena lacking social skills. Zena needs an extremely dog savvy adopter willing to go slow with her and troubleshoot some stranger danger and touch sensitivity at the vet. Her best fit will be an active adult home, with folks who have rescue dog experience, and who understand that a period of decompression is needed as Zena transitions to a new home.  Zena has done extremely well with her training, and seems to enjoy the process. She now knows most basic commands. We recommend ongoing Obedience work to help her adopter bond, and also to provide mental and physical stimulation. Besides training exercises, Zena needs a few brisk leash walks daily to work out her yayas.  We suspected Zena to be a mix of Beagle and Pug, but when curiosity demanded that we run her DNA, we discovered that somebody had crossed her great grandparents with Rottweiler. Zena is a stout, medium sized dog at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds and still be within normal weight range. The Rottie DNA no doubt is the source of her sass! Zena's house manners are good. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health. Zena has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Zena, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
We are Beagle crazy these days, and we are thrilled to have a family of Gorgeous Beagles at our Rescue. Hunter was found with his siblings, Chase, Jack, and Ginger as country Strays in North Carolina. They were rounded up by Animal Control Officers and brought to a high kill Shelter. Hunter and his Clan completely bewitched Shelter staff and were quickly transferred to us before their euthanasia date. Although it seems Hunter has been raised with siblings, we have socialized him with other dogs, so that he can be adopted alone. Of course, he also could be adopted with one of his siblings to folks who would like a pair of compatible dogs. Hunter is an excellent family dog, and is affectionate with adults and children of all ages. He could easily join a multi-dog home, and in fact, we would prefer that he have canine companionship, because he seems to enjoy other dogs so much. We have not tested him with cats.  At just two years old, Hunter is a beautiful boy with black and tan coloring. He is a small dog at just 26 pounds. Beagle lovers will find him true to the Beagle breed standard. As a scent hound, he is nose driven and preoccupied with any interesting smells. While Hunter derives a lot of mental stimulation from leisurely strolls, he also needs brisk focused leash walks to perfect his heel command, and work off some energy. Adopters may wish to use the Halti, or Gentle Leader, to help refocus the training walk, and differentiate it from the sniffing stroll. Hunter can be a little stubborn in obedience training, but with patience he will come along nicely, and certainly would be able to achieve his Canine Good Citizenship certification. He has a confident temperament, and is extremely friendly and well behaved in stressful situations like the Vet or groomer. Hunter has great presence, and moves through the human world in an easy manner. Hunter is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in optimal health, and have been recently neutered and has had routine vaccinations and health screenings.  If you are interested in Hunter, please write to Denise at Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
