Story
Sometimes dogs come into the rescue and their little souls are broken and it takes a while to get them to a point we feel they are ready for adoption - such is the case with Heather - this beautiful girl has really come so far in Becky and Keith's care since coming to the rescue in July 2021 but none of it came easy - she came from a hoarding bust and all these dogs were thrown together in outside kennels and here was one lone dog tied to a tree away from all the others and that was Heather - why we do not know but emotionally it took a toll on her without a doubt - trust did not come easy and we do know that she will trust a man easier than a woman - but given proper time she will trust a woman too - As long as she has been with the rescue , it was just recently she actually picked up a toy to play with it . Now she loves to run zoomies in the yard and play with other dogs - she has learned what it is to actually be a dog now - not just a life that existed tied to a tree not knowing when she was going to have to cower down to avoid a beating or when she was going to get food next. Heather is estimated to be 5 years old. She weighs 32 pounds and just had her yearly exam, bloodwork and vaccines and she is a healthy girl - she has some tartar built up so we are going to go ahead and get a dental done on her next week. This girl had never been in a house so housebreaking was a challenge but she has come so so far and is doing great with that. She does well with other dogs, kids and cats. She will need a patient adopter - one that realizes that she is not going to want to cuddle on your lap right away but once she does - you will have one loyal and loving companion. This girl is so so deserving of a home to call her own and we hope someone sees this post and decides that they want to open their home and heart to a true "underdog " Heather is spayed, current on vaccines, dewormed, just had her annual bloodwork done, dewormed, current on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250.00 If you are interested in adopting this special girl - please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications. We do not schedule any meet and greets until the application has been received and reviewed. We don't have a facility - all of our animals are in private foster homes throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina Let's find Heather a family and a home to call her own. She is ready

Curtis struggled with men for a while as well as sudden movements, but over the last 4 years he has grown so much! He loves to snuggle and lounge around. Curtis is a great dog for a chill lifestyle. He enjoys walks and treats, but overall he best loves to hang out. Curtis still struggles with some anxiety, but he is great with kids, other animals and people; sometimes he just takes a bit to warm up. We believe Curtis is about 7-8 years old. He is also house- and crate-trained.  Curtis would love to find a family he can snuggle up with and cuddle.Contact me today at briananalvarez5@gmail.com to learn more about or meet sweet Curtis! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact 828.777.7747 for more information or to adopt the pet.Forrest is a very adventurous 8-years-young beagle mix. He loves to run around and is even better when he has a big fenced-in yard to play in. He also enjoys long walks with his owners so he can sniff out all the squirrels and bunnies. He is a beagle but is relatively quiet, and his howling is typically kept to a minimum. He loves treats (as all good doggos do) and antlers. He gets very excited when he hears other dogs or when he sees somebody he adores. Forrest is great with other dogs, but gets along best with gentle non-territorial friends. While he is not 100% house trained, he has little to no accidents as long as he is crated when left for long periods of time or has adequate opportunities to go outside. While his name is Forrest, he prefers to stay out of forests where there is a lot of gunfire because he is afraid of loud sounds. At night Forrest enjoys a nice cuddle on the couch with lots of relaxing belly rubs. Forrest requires periodic vet visits because he has seizures.  His medicine is very inexpensive at a pharmacy and his seizures are very well controlled. Forrest is friendly to al l- kids and adults and is looking for a new home.Contact me today at 828.777.7747 to learn more about sweet Forrest!  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. This animal is NOT available through Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. This is a courtesy listing only, so you will need to contact the current owner for more information or to adopt. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER AT: call or text: (828) 989-3363 Meet Curtis! Curtis is a rescue beagle who we believe to be around 7 or 8 years old. Curtis has faced & overcome many challenges, after facing lots of abuse and being found after being dumped, he was terrified of men and many other things, but is now so loving and sweet. Curtis loves to nap, snuggle, eat, and repeat. He's great for people who don't necessarily want an overactive dog. He is very quiet and timid. Curtis is crate trained and has plenty of experience sleeping in his crate with no problems. Curtis loves other dogs, people, and kids. Curtis does face some anxieties that come and go and can be nervous around new people and certain men at times. But with time and love, he comes around to everyone.
