Maggie is a 4-year-old Beagle/Foxhound mix who is full of love and curiosity. She loves being outdoors and especially enjoys chasing squirrels and exploring her surroundings. Due to increased business travel, we are away from home more than we feel is fair to Maggie. This is a very difficult decision because she deserves a home where she can receive plenty of love, attention, companionship, and quality time with her people. We are hoping to find Maggie a loving home with a safe outdoor space where she can explore, get plenty of exercise, and enjoy all the sights and smells she loves. She would do best with someone who has the time to give her the companionship and attention she deserves. Maggie is sensitive to loud noises. She is not a fan of thunderstorms or fireworks, so she needs a safe, quiet place where she can retreat and feel secure when there are loud booms or storms. We hope to find her the right family…someone who will love her and make her a cherished part of their home.

For the first 5 months of her life, Sage lived outside and didn't get the socialization that puppies need. Because of that, new people, kids, loud noises, and busy environments can still be pretty overwhelming for her. But after about a month in her foster home, we're already seeing her come out of her shell! Sage is a cautious girl who needs people to give her time and space to feel comfortable. When there are only a few people around and they let her approach on her own terms, she starts to open up and show her sweet personality. She absolutely LOVES belly rubs once she trusts you! 🫶 Her kennel is her safe space, and she's kennel trained. When she feels overwhelmed, she often chooses to retreat to her kennel to decompress. She is also doing really well with potty training! We'd estimate she's about 80% potty trained. She knows that potty happens outside, but if she gets scared or startled, she may still have an accident. Sage LOVES being outside and is happiest when she's able to relax in a familiar, quiet environment. She's also wonderful with other dogs and would love having a confident canine sibling to learn from! She's been fine with cats so far, although her interactions have been limited and always on leash. Sage isn't looking for a home that expects her to immediately be everyone's social butterfly. She needs a patient family who understands that confidence takes time and who will celebrate the little victories along the way. Amos is a 7 y/o chocolate beagle mix who came to HBHR with a large group of beagles from a hoarding situation in the summer of 2023. It has taken a long time for any of these beagles to become socialized, but Amos has finally made it! Amos has good house manners with the use of a dog door. He will occasionally mark the food bowl of another male but that is more to do with alpha status than manners! He rarely destroys toys and leaves things alone unless they have touched food in the last month! His food drive is all beagle! Amos plays well with the pack and enjoys a good chase. He is alpha and will do best in a home with a more submissive partner. Amos has only recently started allowing people to pet him and really enjoys the attention. He does well around kids and would love having young people to chase around a yard! Amos has not made it to snuggling yet but seeks out one on one attention. He will get to that point, and it would be wonderful if he has a family of his own when he is ready for that next step!
