Story
Rizzo is ready to show you a sham-rockin good time! He a young dog weighing in at about 45lbs. The only thing he needs this St Patrick’s day is you, a good belly rub, treats and a ball. Rizzo loves other dogs but can be picky about the people in his life. But if you are this little leprechauns person, boy does he love you. He is sure to be the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow!Rizzo is a young dog with young dog energy. Don’t let that deter you, he is also a great nap taker. Rizzo is looking for his forever home and can’t wait to be your little helper. Rizzo would do great in any home without small children but would thrive in an all female home. He is unsure of men but warms up quickly with a few treats. He is great on a leash and a perfect little car rider. He would make a fantastic hiking or running buddy for someone and he loves to play with balls. So much so that he entertains himself with one. He is great at taking commands and is a fast learner. He has mastered sit, crate and come. He is also doing great with stay. Rizzo just wants to be where you are and would make a great couch buddy for the cold winter!Rizzo is a former street dog turned cuddle bug. He enjoys nap time, playing with toys and getting all the love you have to give. He goes in his crate fantastically but when he hears you he wants out for more love! He does wonderful on a leash and isn’t hard to handle. He would make a great hiking buddy or running partner. He really wants to make new friends but is sometimes unsure, especially of larger men. No worries though, he warms up quickly if you have a treat to share with him! He hasn’t completely given up his street dog ways because he loves to explore the fenced in yard. Rizzo would love to be yours more so if you have a ball to throw, a treat or just all your love to give. Rico is ready to fully give up his street dog ways and finally find his forever home with you!Rizzo and his foster brother received their Christmas box from Chewy and they’re wondering what’s in it!! Rizzo has settled in at his new fosters house and so far he loves playing with his foster brother, running through the yard and barking at the horses next door. An active family or person would be great. He is the sweetest little guy at 45lbs and wants to be where his person is. He is always up for a play date or a nap, whatever his person is doing. He is a great car rider. He already knows sit and we are working on stay but he is picking it up quickly. Get ready to meet your new best friend!Rizzo aka Rico update: 2yrs, 35-40lb male He's settling in pretty well now after 3 weeks. He does have some allergies that require medicine as of now, but that could always change. He gets along with the 10yr old girl and with 3 of our 4 dogs...the 4th is our alpha female and his dominance starts to show, so slow and steady or he would make an excellent only dog! He plays a little rough so he's learning how to be easy. He loves to chew and is full of energy, so make sure he has plenty of toys/bones to keep him out of trouble! He's a love bug who must lay/sleep on you versus beside you! He's not a huge fan of the crate, but he tolerates it ok. He would love to have a family to call his own!!!Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Story
Hi! My name is Cadence. I am a 4-year-old German/Anatolian Shepherd mix with big brown eyes and a heart of gold.I’m house and crate trained. I know sit and shake.  I adapt to just about any environment with a little bit of time.  Loud noises do not bother me.I love car rides and get so excited when we get to where we’re going, I try to climb into the front seat. I love tennis balls, squeakers, tug ropes, really any toy if you will play with me.  I love to be brushed. I love my chin and chest scratched. I love treats. I love praise.  You’ve probably figured out by now that I’m a lovebug.  My foster mom says I pick things up really fast, but I don’t always mind my manners.  I really enjoy walks but haven’t figured out why I need to be tethered to a human.  I pull in every direction at first because there’s so much to see and smell, and by the way, I am strong.  The foster humans are being patient and working with me but it’s going to take time to break my old habits. There’s a 5’ fence at my foster home and that keeps me safe, but I might be able to jump a shorter fence. Baby gates in the house are no match for me.  I’m right at home in a dog park.  My previous human couldn’t provide the care I needed so my ears got infected and are a little sensitive and scarred.   The veterinarian said we’ll have to keep a close watch for infections forever.  I’m close to 70 pounds.  I’m up to date on all my vaccinations.  I get along with everyone I meet, but I was a little bossy with my foster sister when we first met.  I barely notice the cat.  I like to rough house when playing and sometimes forget that I’m a little clumsy and bigger than everyone else.  I’m working on the basics of leash training and not jumping up when I’m excited with my foster family and am showing progress but still need some work.  My breed is known to be independent, intelligent, loving and loyal and I am all of that.Apply online or email russellrescuetn@gmail.com if already approved 4 yr old spayed German shepherd. 62#, adopted from animal control, vet told owner that she needed to treat her ears, owner said she would have to come back on payday… never saw her again. Cadence was later taken back to AC for euthanasia. Tech at AC couldn’t do it because cadence is so sweet… so they sent her to our clinic and dr evaluated her ears. She has suffered chronic untreated ear infections for who knows how long.. ear canals are cauliflowers and cadence will have to have ear exams abt every 6-8 weeks. We packed them w a two week treatment last week. Her ears are very sensitive, and she had to be sedated to treat them. She is a precious girl and doing well with her foster just after one day!Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. The application is the first step.
