Story
Karen Collin’s, VP of Roatan Animal Support, Inc. DBA RTR Spay and Neuter, has graciously sponsored Rhoadies adoption fee! Meet Rhoadie, our petite little Rottie mix with the gentlest soul. Rhoadie came to us as a stray with her two-day-old litter of NINE puppies. This girl went from surviving on her own to trusting rescue with her tiny babies, and she handled it with so much strength and grace. Now that her mama duties are behind her, it’s finally Rhoadie’s turn to be chosen. She is right around 35 pounds, making her the perfect medium-sized companion. Rhoadie is dog friendly, calm, resilient, and incredibly sweet. She is potty trained, leash trained, and kennel trained. And kids? Rhoadie is amazing with them. She has the kind of patient, gentle personality that makes her a dream family dog. She will gladly let a toddler crawl all over her and still look at you like, “Is this my job now?” Rhoadie has been through so much, but she has remained soft, loving, and steady. She deserves a forever home where she can finally be the baby, not the mama, and spend the rest of her life being loved the way she has loved her puppies. This sweet girl is ready for her happily ever after.

Story
Meet Your New Best Friend: Chase Status: Available for AdoptionBreed: German Shepard MixGender: Neutered MaleWeight: 60lbsAge: 1.5 years oldPersonality: Chase first entered our program when he was only a few months old and weighed about 10 pounds. He had been dumped in Grimes County alongside his mom and four siblings. Every one of them was malnourished, severely dehydrated, and suffering from painful skin infections. They received the care they desperately needed, and Chase was eventually adopted. Unfortunately, just a few months later, he was returned to us—now nearly a year old and about 50 pounds heavier.Chase came back with some…well, trust issues. But he is officially in his healing era, and he is working incredibly hard to prepare for the family who will finally choose him for good. ❤️‍🩹Now a stunning 60-pound German Shepherd mix, Chase is the perfect combination of athletic energy and gentle sensitivity. Like a classic shepherd, he is intelligent, eager to please, active, and happiest when he has a job to do. He would make an incredible hiking, running, fetch, or adventure partner for someone who enjoys staying active.Underneath all that energy is a soft, sensitive boy who is still building his confidence. New situations, unfamiliar noises, and ordinary objects can sometimes feel intimidating to him. Chase needs a patient, encouraging person who will use positive reinforcement to remind him that he is safe—and that he really is a good boy.Watching him conquer something that once frightened him, whether it is a noisy trash can, an unfamiliar staircase, or a new environment, is one of the most rewarding experiences. Every little victory helps Chase become braver.Chase also loves having large canine friends. He is social and playful with dogs his own size and feels most secure with a confident, large-breed companion who can show him the ropes.Chase is not looking for someone who expects perfection on day one. He is looking for a partner who will continue helping him heal, build his confidence, and navigate this big, wide world. To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
