Story
Hi! It's me, Stan. I was adopted from BAGSR several years ago but unfortunately my person had some medical issues so I'm back looking for my next great adventure. It's all good, I'm a big, confident boy with a lot of love to give. I'm around 6 years old, and a very cool mix of German Shepherd, Malinois and just enought husky to make my tail curl a bit. I have a gorgeous soft golden orange coat and the cutest white on my muzzle (sugar lips) and silly white eye lashes. Don't let the white face fool you, it's mostly my color, not my age, and you can find white hairs throughout my coat.
I was originally found all alone in a fruit orchard before I met my human friends. I don't remember how I got there but I don't think it was good. That's all way behind me now. I'm a super easy-going boy and don't take things too seriously. I love to go for rides and explore new places and meet new people, espeically the petting kind — seriously, who doesn't? I see lots of other dogs when out and about and, while I might glance at them, I pretty much mind my own business. I love going for walks and I don't yank my person around, that would be kind of rude for a distinguished guy like me.
What does get the blood flowing would be SQUIRRELS. I just can't help it. They run the fences, chatter at me, and I swear they throw stuff at me. I have a pretty high prey drive for small critters so cats are a definite NO. I don't pay much attention to larger animals like goats and horses but the little things that move fast just trigger my triggers!
I'm super healthy and have teeth like a one year old. I love sniff walks and love to explore and be out and about but I do have a chill switch and can spend some quality time on the couch watching movies, too. I'm crate trained but I prefer you use it only for emergencie. I mean, really, it's pretty confining. I'm housetrained and do well left alone as long as all the food is secure. I'll admit, I have been known to surf a counter or two but you just have to remember to push the food back out of reach (and maybe cover the garbage can). I know I shouldn't but I am a "foodie" and take my treats seriously. So, about those treats... I really really like treats. One of my friends said I take treats like a starving pirahana and I might accidentaly get a finger (I really don't like fingers unless they are chicken fingers.) Still, I doubt I could help myself from snatching a treat from a kid if given the chance, so it's best if I live with a family that has older kids. I love kids (recently got mobbed by a Girl Scout troop and loved every minute of it) but those yummy treats........
Oh, and I've got this funny habit of walking between your legs when you're least expecting it. I think someone tried to teach me that "walk between my legs" thing and we only got partway. I seemed to have missed the cue for when to do it and when not to. I have my basics down and will happily trade a handshake for a treat. I walk nice on leash and don't get all goofy when another dog walks by. I could live with another easy going dog, probably a girl would be best, but I would probably like to have you all to myself.
I'm looking for a family who wants an easy going kind of guy. Someone that likes to explore a bit, go for slow country car rides so I can hang my head out the window, or just have a nice day at home in the garden or workshop. If you like to travel, I'm all in. I'll be your loyal companion for life. I'm super snuggly and a great listener (I keep secrets). So if you're looking for an awesome dog like me, look no further! I'm hanging out in Santa Rosa if you want to meet me or just come say hi.
