I’m Chispa — a 10 year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix with plenty of spark still left in me! 🔥 Don’t let my age fool you — I love to stay active and have energy to spare when it’s time for a walk, play session, or a good game of fetch. I’m also friendly and affectionate once I get to know you, and I’ve still got that playful, happy-go-lucky attitude that keeps life interesting.I came to the shelter after my owner’s health declined, and while I’ve lived peacefully with another dog and a cat before, I haven’t loved meeting cats here — so I might be hit or miss in that department. I’d do best with respectful dog friends and humans who understand my boundaries.Speaking of which — I can be a bit protective of my food and toys, so I’d prefer a home with kids 12 and up who understand that I like my space when I’m eating or playing with something special. I’m also not a fan of being restrained (the vet usually needs to give me a little something to help me relax during exams), so gentle handling and patience are key.The good news? I’m housebroken, loyal, and full of love once you’re in my circle. I’m ready to find a home that appreciates my big heart, spunky personality, and the wisdom that comes with a little life experience. ❤️Requirements: Martingale Collar; Children 12yrs+ (due to Resource Guarding); Breed ExperienceAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Our adoption fee helps cover this cost.

Meet Anakin, a lovable, nearly six year old German Shepherd who wants to play all day. He has not shown aggression toward children or people inside the home and needs an experienced, patient owner who can provide attention, exercise, and structure. Anakin has high anxiety, a strong scent drive, and can be destructive when left alone with free access to the house. He was poorly socialized and bullied as a puppy, so he struggles with other dogs and may attempt to mount them. Dog interactions require careful management. He is stubborn and responds best to his primary handler. Anakin is not neutered and occasionally has vomiting or diarrhea that may need veterinary attention. His ideal home will offer consistent routines, patient training, and support for his anxiety. He has plenty of love to give and deserves a family prepared to understand and meet his needs. He is crate trained and will enjoy having a "den" to lay in.
