I’m also friendly and affectionate once I get to know you, and I’ve still got that playful, happy-go-lucky attitude that keeps life interesting.I came to the shelter after my owner’s health declined, and while I’ve lived peacefully with another dog and a cat before, I haven’t loved meeting cats here — so I might be hit or miss in that department. I’d do best with respectful dog friends and humans who understand my boundaries.Speaking of which — I can be a bit protective of my food and toys, so I’d prefer a home with kids 12 and up who understand that I like my space when I’m eating or playing with something special. I’m also not a fan of being restrained (the vet usually needs to give me a little something to help me relax during exams), so gentle handling and patience are key.The good news? I’m housebroken, loyal, and full of love once you’re in my circle. After being lovingly passed from one family member to another to keep him out of a shelter, Samson's owner was seriously injured in a car accident and is facing a lengthy recovery after upcoming surgery, making it impossible to give Samson the care and exercise he deserves.Samson is everything people love about German Shepherds: intelligent, loyal, affectionate, and full of personality. He knows sit, stay, lay down, shake, and catch, and one of his favorite activities is playing ball. When he's not showing off his skills, he's happy to relax with his favorite blanket and pillow while soaking up attention from his people.According to his previous owner, Samson is housetrained, gets along with both dogs and cats, and settles down quickly when left alone. He may protest your departure for a few minutes, but he's not destructive and doesn't have accidents in the house. His biggest weakness? Squirrels.
