Story
Moose is genuinely one of the sweetest dogs, but she has a very high work drive and needs more than we’re able to give her right now. She would thrive with someone who has the time, experience, and desire to work with her, keep her mentally and physically active, and give her a job to do. She also struggles with pretty significant separation anxiety, so I want to be completely transparent about that. She needs someone willing to be patient with her and work through it rather than expecting it to disappear overnight. This is not a “free dog to whoever wants her” situation. We love Moose, and finding the right home is much more important to us than finding one quickly. I’d love to see her with someone experienced with high-drive dogs who understands that she has so much potential with the right outlet and consistency.

Story
Lori’s journey started in a high-kill shelter where she was surrendered alongside her puppies. Thankfully, that’s all in the past now! At just 2 years old, this resilient girl is ready for her own "happily ever after." Her foster mom recently ran a DNA test, and the results are in: Lori is 29% Australian Shepherd and 71% German Shepherd. Her "brilliant" personality makes total sense now! Lori is already house-trained, crate-trained, and a total social butterfly with other dogs.

Story
There’s no place like home… let’s find Whiskey one! Whiskey was born at BCAR three years ago, and sadly, while his five littermates and his mom were all long-ago adopted. Whiskey had a very severe case of Parvo and by the time he was healthy and ready for adoption, he was a big, growing dog and was just overlooked. He has had great care and extra love from our volunteers at BCAR, but he needs to be in a home. One of our volunteers invited Whiskey to visit her home for a couple of days. She reported back that he was a perfect gentleman! While being understandably nervous of household noises like the dishwasher, he was a quick learner when it came to couch time! He had no accidents in the house, slept well through the night, and enjoyed TV time. Another volunteer has been working with Whiskey on beginning agility training. You can check out their You Tube video. Bob has been working on various aspects of Whiskey's training several times a week for a while now and they have become best buddies. Bob has this to say about Whiskey: "I enjoy working with Whiskey because he is highly intelligent and has 'personality.' By that i mean he responds well to training/commands and picks up new tasks with ease. His 'personality' varies based on the circumstances. When he is let out of his kennel and goes into the office, he is a bundle of loving energy who adores attention and is genuinely excited to see the volunteers. While on walks to field training he is in high 'alert' mode ready for any situation. While in the dog park he is all silliness as he lies down in the pool to cool off. Also in the dog park, he is super focused on performing agility tasks and following commands to sit, stay and come. He can react to strangers and strange/unknown dogs if left to himself but can also remain relatively calm if on leash or held and told to leave whatever he perceives as a threat. One of his favorite things to do in the dog park is to climb on top of the picnic table, nuzzle up to me and let me massage his neck and shoulders (so much so that if I stop, he "nose bumps" me to keep going). He is a really good dog who needs time, training, compassion and understanding." Whiskey needs to be an only pet but will make a loyal and loving companion for his people. He just needs a chance!! All BCAR dogs are placed as indoor family pets. No electric fences, please. Visit pets every Saturday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (706-268-1346) or visit our website for adoption information at www.bigcanoeanimalrescue.org.

Story
My daughter adopted Cici from a foster situation and she is a very sweet and good dog. My daughter is now going through a divorce and she is a full time mom to her special needs son. Because of this she does not have the time or finances to care for Cici. She needs a home that can give her the care, time and exercise that she needs and deserves.

Story
From Chain to Change 💔➡️💛She spent most of her life tied to a chain… watching the world go by, longing for freedom, comfort, and companionship. Her days were small, limited to the length of cold metal and the ground beneath her paws. But not anymore. Now she runs. She splashes. She plays.Since coming into our care, this sweet girl has discovered what it truly means to be a dog. She has friends to romp around with, soft places to rest her head, and a pond that she absolutely loves. Watching her race toward the water with pure joy is something we’ll never get tired of.The chain is gone. The loneliness is gone. And in its place? Freedom, friendship, and a whole lot of happiness. She is finally living her best life — and we are so honored to be part of her journey. 💕To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Story
We met Luna on a Monday night (Monday in Spanish is "lunes" and another word for moon is "lunar") in a parking lot. We were coming out of Walmart when a couple we passed asked if we wanted a puppy that needed a home. I said we didn't and we went to our car. My son said that it was sad that they were just giving a new puppy away and we could probably give it a home for a little while and find a better permanent home for it. So I said yes. And that's how we got Luna. We de-wormed the poor thing and shes been with us 2 years. She's great with the three kids, other dogs and yes, even cats. Now, she IS a chewer. Lol. But she's so loving and funny. But both parents work full time and the kids are usually with a family member/ babysitter. Plus, we are having to move soon and most places won't allow bigger dogs like her. She's beautiful, a total sweetheart and an active and attentive home would be best for her. We just want her to be loved for the sweetie she is.
