Story
Scooter is a very sweet boy, good with children and cats. He does not react to deer, golf carts, walkers, bikers, or small dogs when out walking, but does show reactivity with large dogs by barking and pulling. In the home, he is so lovely, calm, and friendly. He is a very laid back and relaxed dog. He is extremely responsive with treats on walks and his reactivity is easily managed with the use of food rewards. He still needs a bit of distance from larger dogs (20-30 feet) to be able to stay calm, but has done really well when this strategy is used. He has worked with a trainer and would benefit continuation to build social confidence. Scooter becomes very attached to his family. He loves with his whole heart! He has done fine with little dogs. Scooter would love a foster family, foster to adopt or a forever home. If interested, you can complete our application at safeanimalhaven.orgApril 4, 2024, 7:39 pm

Story
Meet Joe, who originally came to us from the Rowan County Animal Shelter. Joe is a 1–2-year-old, 52 lb., German Shepherd. He has had all of shots is neutered and is microchipped. He came to us as rescue only due to fear issues. He is not aggressive in any way, nor does he shake / tremble. He is just nervous. Joe was adopted from us several months ago, but unfortunately, he stayed out in the yard because the adopters said they couldn't catch him, so they just left him out. The adopters returned him back to us on 12/30/23. Joe gets along well with all sized dogs and is social. While in foster care before he got adopted, he had started wagging his tail and socializing but now with the previous adopters not really working with him he's back to being shut down again. He will need time to adjust and get comfortable with his new home and does require a 6 ft. fence and having another dog (for companionship) in the family. If you are interested in adopting this beautiful boy, please send us your email address to obtain an Adoption Application.

Story
Meet Phoebe, who comes to us from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. She is a 9-month-old, 50lb. German Shepherd. Due to her being starved, she came to us a bit underweight, but we have since gotten her to a healthy weight. Phoebe is a little shy at first but incredibly food motivated and so smart. She’s already learning how to sit, shake paw, and play ball. Phoebe is current on her vaccinations. She is housetrained and knows to sit and wait for her treat when finished. Phoebe is doing so well and learning every day. She loves to cuddle and is a Velcro dog. Phoebe is good with other dogs and cats. She does tend to become somewhat of a nipper when she wants your attention, so it would probably be best if she didn't go to a home with small children. If you are interested, please reach out to us to obtain an application.
