Mamba's story is one of survival, resilience, and second chances. Her journey began at a local horse stable in Mexico, where she was struggling to survive on her own. Severely malnourished, weak, and desperately searching for food each day, Mamba had already endured more hardship than any dog should have to face. Thankfully, someone saw her and stepped in to give her the chance she so desperately needed. With proper food, medical care, and lots of love, Mamba slowly began to regain her strength. Her body healed, and her joyful personality started to shine through. Then, just when life seemed to be getting brighter, Mamba suffered another heartbreaking setback. While playing with other dogs, an unfortunate accident caused a severe injury to one of her eyes. Despite every effort to save it, her eye could not be preserved and ultimately had to be surgically removed. But Mamba? She didn't let that stop her. Today, she proudly wears her adorable "pirate girl" look and takes on the world with the same enthusiasm as ever. Losing an eye hasn't changed her ability to run, play, explore, or enjoy life. If anything, Mamba seems determined to show everyone that sometimes the strongest hearts belong to those who have been through the most. Mamba is a compact girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She absolutely adores her people and forms deep bonds with those she trusts. If you sit down, don't be surprised if Mamba decides that's her invitation to come over, lean against you, and soak up some affection. Being close to her family is one of her favorite things in the world. She is also a high-energy girl who loves having something to do. Meet Bonnie! This sweet, 3 year old Belgian Malinois mix has a heart of gold and a ton of energy! Bonnie is new to our shelter, so we are still learning about her. She has not interacted with other animals or small children while in our care. She is a very smart girl who already knows a lot of commands - she just needs an adopter who is patient, experienced, and willing to continue her training so she can thrive! Ember was dumped by a church in a rural area, but despite her difficult start, she has shown what an incredibly special dog she is. She is exceptionally intelligent and has received professional training. She understands commands in German and Dutch and also knows her basic commands in English, including sit, stay and lay down. Ember is an affectionate, happy and friendly girl who loves being with her people. She has a high energy level and enjoys an active lifestyle, but she is also remarkably well balanced and knows how to settle. She relaxes easily in her crate and is not destructive. Hi, I’m Maxi! I’m a big, goofy boy who’s looking for a fresh start after being surrendered through no fault of my own. I can be a little nervous when we first meet, but give me a moment, a tasty treat (freeze-dried beef liver is my favourite!), and some patience, and I’ll warm up nicely. Once I’m comfortable, I’m happy to accept pets, snuggle up for attention, and may even put my paws up to say hello and try to give you a face sniff or two. I know my sit and down, I’m very food motivated, and I’m happy to cooperate for things like having my collar put on, paws handled, or ears and mouth checked. I enjoy attention and treats more than toys, although I’ll happily chase a toy now and then. I can pull a bit on leash and I’m very interested in everything happening around me, so I’ll need someone patient who can help me build my leash skills and confidence. With some positive training, enrichment, and consistency, I’m sure I can become an excellent walking buddy. I’m friendly with people once I’ve had a chance to take them in, and I may give a few little “boofs” when a stranger arrives before deciding they’re actually pretty great. I’ve also met another dog and showed playful, social body language, although I can be quite forward and enthusiastic in my greetings. I’d do best with a friendly, respectful canine companion and a proper introduction. I can live in an apartment as long as I get plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment. I am quite the active, busy boy! Cats and small animals aren’t my thing because I’ll want to chase them, so a cat-free home is a must. I can live with dog-savvy, sturdy kids who are comfortable around a big dog who sometimes forgets that his paws are bigger than his manners. I’m a sensitive guy who could really use someone willing to help me build confidence and learn that I don’t have to worry about the world around me.
