Story
Meet Ursula — a Malinois x Dutch Shepherd x German Shepherd (we DNA-tested her brother, so we know her mix!) and the definition of a velcro dog. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow who wants nothing more than to be by your side, she’s your girl. Ursula is one of four puppies who came to us after surviving horrific conditions and serious neglect. Born in January 2025, she had never even stepped outside of the apartment she lived in. We moved her straight in with our head trainer, and since then, we’ve watched her blossom into the sweetest, snuggliest pup. She’s higher energy compared to most breeds, but on the lower end of the Malinois scale (so, you know, Malinois-light). She loves people and will run right up to say hi, but if you move too fast, she might back off for a second. Once she’s had a quick chance to check you out—and maybe play with a toy or grab a treat—she’s all about the cuddles. With other dogs, like with people, Ursula can be a little unsure at first, but she warms up quickly and has no aggression. In fact, she’d thrive in a home with a confident dog who can help show her the ropes. She’s crate-trained, completely housebroken, and LOVES her walks—especially when she’s on a long line and gets to explore, romp, and sniff to her heart’s content. Training is a joy with her because she is seriously food-motivated and eager to please. Like many young shepherd mixes, Ursula can still get nervous in new environments. What helps her most is a cheerleader by her side—someone who will encourage her, celebrate her bravery, and keep exposing her gently to the world so her confidence continues to grow. After everything she’s been through, this sweet girl deserves a soft spot to land and a person (or family) of her own.

Story
About AstroAstro is a handsome, high-energy three-year-old Belgian Malinois with a strong and intelligent presence. While he’s considered relatively mellow for his breed, he still shows the classic Malinois traits—active, alert, and eager to engage. Astro is friendly with people and is reportedly housebroken, with at least basic training, including how to sit.He would do best in a home without cats and with children over the age of 8. Astro is looking for a dog-savvy family familiar with the needs of the Malinois breed—someone who can provide structure, exercise, and mental stimulation to help him thrive. We estimate his weight to be between 60–65 pounds. With the right environment and guidance, Astro has the potential to be a loyal and rewarding companion. No kids under 8No cats

Story
About VelmaVelma is a beautiful Belgian Malinois, believed to be about one year old. She may be shy when meeting new people, but she quickly reveals her sweet and affectionate nature once she feels comfortable. Velma is also very intelligent—she already knows how to sit and will happily show off her good manners when offered a treat. She has a bit of a mischievous side and is quite the “Houdini,” with an impressive ability to climb fences. Because of this, Velma will need a securely enclosed yard with at least a 6-foot fence. She is also best suited to a home without cats. With patience, structure, and the right environment, Velma has all the makings of a devoted and engaging companion.ConsiderationsNo cats6-foot fence

Story
We rescued pax from the Everett animal shelter when he was 6 months old, unknowing his breed. We did a DNA test and his results are as follows: 50% Belgian Malinois, 3% German Shepherd Dog, 26% German Shorthaired pointer, and 21% Labrador Retriever. He is a very kind and loving dog but he needs a job and plenty of exercise that we can’t provide him after having a child (whom he does great with.) Without a job, he naturally wants to chew, dig, and gets anxious and bored leading to difficult behavior. He does great with the other dogs in our house who we had before him, but I am unsure how he would do with a new dog or a new pet. We have tried training with a licensed dog trainer and training collars. He just needs more than we can provide and I believe he has the potential of being very well behaved in the right environment and under better circumstances. An experienced Belgian owner would be ideal, as they are extremely specific breeds that we had zero knowledge on prior. We are so sad

Story
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet June. She and her brother came to us as bottle babies. Mommy was a larger breed dog and the puppies were born in a local shelter. It was surprising there were only two, but they were healthy and getting fed by their mom for almost a week. Sadly - mommy's health took a turn and it was decided to pull the puppies and get them into a foster. They were big babies, at 9 weeks, she was 14 pounds! She was born March 2nd. We were surprised by the DNA, half Malinois / half 13 other breeds. DNA suggested they could be between 50-80#, like we said, she's a chunk. June's mom was completely black - so she inherited part of her coloring. June is definitely the lover of the pair. Being a bottle baby - she has been very socialized. Her first foster had a toddler, other dogs. At 6 weeks, she went to a foster whose very friendly orange cat became a constant companion to the pair. After her brother was recently adopted, she went to a different foster home to learn crate training (doing great) and all the puppy things. She's even walking on a leash around their property. Being part Malinois, we are looking for homes that have previous GSD or similar experience. She will likely need a firm handler and an active home. She's super sweet, smart and going to make a great companion. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age. She will need more puppy shots, including rabies when she's older. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt requires a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on this particular puppy. It's Easy. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

These pups are in Sequim, Washington too!

Story
Born in June 2020, Dexter suffered a severe break in his leg and had to spend much of his youth on restricted activity so it would heal. He is fully healthy now, and his leg made a full recovery. Dex is great on leash, loves his walks, and bonds strongly with his humans. In typical GSD fashion, he likes to have something to do, so having a home with people who are around and will include him in adventures and outings is preferred. He is full of energy and has lots of love to give. Dexter has gone through great training, he is easy to walk on leash, he listens well, and enjoys learning new behaviors and games through training. He especially loves playing with his toys. His favorite playtime activities are fetch and tug and showing off his toys by playing on his own. Dexter benefits from longs walks and hikes where he can sniff and explore. Dexter’s favorite past time is chilling on his bed with a Kong or bully stick. A securely fenced yard, no kids or cats is required for Dexter’s home. Visit our website to fill out an Adoption Application http://www.wagsequimwa.com If you have any questions, please email: office@wagsequimwa.com. Most of our dogs require a fully fenced yard, this does depend on the individual dogs needs and safety requirements. Story
Meet Brody! This German shepherd was born around 2019 and is sweet as can be. He loves to play ball and is quite friendly with people. His previous owners allowed him to roam, and he got in trouble after eating a neighbor's chickens, so he requires a home outside of Clallam County. Brody's ideal home will have great fencing and no farm animals. He does well with his son that came to WAG with him, but we have not seen him interact with other dogs or cats. Brody is friendly with people, but due to his size, might be best for kids at least 5 years old.   Visit our website to fill out an Adoption Application http://www.wagsequimwa.com If you have any questions, please email: office@wagsequimwa.com. Story
Meet Max! This German shepherd mix was born in 2022 and has already had a little too much life experience. His previous owners allowed him to roam, which resulted in him going after a neighbor's chickens and getting shot. He has recovered well from his surgeries, but he is now required to find a home outside of Clallam County. Max's ideal home will have great fencing and no farm animals. He does well with his father that came to WAG with him, but we have not seen him interact with other dogs or cats. Max is friendly with people, but due to his size, might be best for kids at least 8 years old.
