Story
Rio is a healthy and active 4 yr old belgian malinois mix who needs a new home due to her owner passing. The family has her in a board and train program at Mountain States K9 Academy in Windsor currently, so her new family will be able to be coached with her newly learned commands and techniques at no cost to her adopter. She is house trained, walks on leash, loves to hike and play and is a wonderful companion dog! She and her mama were close and best friends prior to her owners passing, so she would love to find another human who has a place in their heart for this sweet girl. She has not lived with cats, so that is uncharted territory at current, but we can cat test her soon if needed! She lived as the only dog at her home and did fine as an only dog, but that isn’t necessary. With a positive meet and greet she could do well with another dog in the home as well! She is up to date on vaccinations and is great at the vet and on car rides. Rio is a trim 61 lbs of love and would make a great hiking dog, companion pal, an all around great Colorado dog!

These pups are in Cheyenne, Wyoming too!

Story
Hi, I’m Tina and yes, I really am the best dog ever. I’m a total people-lover and I adore everyone I meet, including kids. If you’re looking for a dog who believes humans are the greatest invention of all time, congratulations, you’ve found her. I’m happiest when I’m by your side, whether we’re heading out for a walk, going for a run, playing with toys, or settling in for a well-earned nap. I love being active and would be thrilled to join you on walks and adventures, but I’m also an expert-level snuggler when it’s time to relax. Treats are a personal passion of mine, and I’m eager to learn new things, especially if snacks and praise are involved. Training with me is fun, rewarding, and full of tail wags. If you want a loyal, joyful, people-loving companion who will make every day better just by being in it, I’m your girl. Come meet me at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and see why everyone agrees I’m the best dog ever. 🐾💖

Story
*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT *** Meet Nova! She is currently enrolled in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. Nova had a tough start in life, but she’s full of love and resilience. This brave girl came to us with an old injury to her right front leg — we’re not sure what happened, though it’s possible she was struck by a vehicle. She walks a little wonky, and her leg may get sore from time to time, but it sure doesn’t slow her down! At this time, amputation isn’t needed, though as Nova grows, her new family should be prepared for the possibility that it might be in the future. She may also need occasional pain management to keep her comfortable — but through it all, she remains happy, playful, and full of life. She does really well with other dogs and does a good job at matching their play style and energy. She does well in her crate too & lets you know when she needs to go outside. Even with her leg injury Nova has some hops! She's hopped a baby gate and 4' fence in the past, so she'll need a secure 6' fence in her new home. She's a young gal who is looking for a new pace to call home. She'll graduate towards the middle of February. Apply to meet her today!
