Story
Meet Levi *****Belgian Malinois Adoption requirements***** The dog you have selected is a Belgian Malinois. This is a breed that has very specific needs for an adoptive home. Because of their need for a high level of exercise, both mentally and physically and their need for ongoing training, only applicants with demonstrated owner/handler experience with this breed will be considered. The vast majority of them are not best suited as family pets, but in homes with experienced handlers knowledgeable of their needs and breed characteristics. We will not place in homes with small children or small dogs/cats. Levi is a young male Malinois estimated to be 2-3 years old. He came to Saving Paws from a shelter in CA. Thanks to the popularity of some recent movies, many people have bought Malinois puppies with great intentions and then weren't able to provide the kind of environment needed for a Malinois to thrive. Levi seems to be one of these and is looking for a second chance in a home that will love and understand him for who he is. Levi is an affectionate dog who loves getting petted and hanging out with humans. He has a high play drive and is happy with any kind of ball. Although Levi is socialized as a pet and bonds well with people, it appears that he was hurt by humans in the past and does not respond well to hard corrections. Levi is eager to learn and to work and would thrive with someone knowledgeable of canine behaviors and experienced with positive reinforcement training. He has great potential to be a really excellent dog for someone with the time and knowledge to bring out the best in him. Levi has behaved neutrally with other dogs residing at Saving Paws; this boy prefers human companionship over canines. Are you the special human who can provide a loving and busy home for our Levi? If you can give Lexi an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks. Thank you for your interest in saving a life!

Story
Name: Carmen Age: 3 years old No small children, dogs or small pets Review Malinois adoption requirements below Howdy, my name is Carmen! Believe it or not I just finished raising 14 puppies! Whew, am I ready to focus on a little "me time". I want to have a person of my own. I will do best with someone who is home a lot. I'm a Malinois and meant to be with my person a lot. We can do so many fun things together - hiking, playing ball, dog sports, going on road trips (I love the car) and just hanging watching tv. I need someone who really understands my breed. I'm not really the right dog to train you about how to own a Malinois. I'm pretty young as you can see from my pretty white shiny teeth! (they tell me about 1 - 1 1/2 years old). I walk well on a leash and not reactive to people or other big dogs or horses. I am not a fan of the little yippy dog types so think cats might fall into that category too. If you can give Carmen an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks. Story
Bernard aka “Bernie” is a handsome 4-5 year old German Shepherd who has been waiting for his perfect forever family to come along. Bernie is a special guy who is a volunteer favorite among many at the rescue. He has a few quirks which has caused him to be with us for quite some time. He will need a family with patience and commitment, and one who really understands the breed. Bernie can be selective on the people in his friend group, so we will require that any potential adopter comes to meet Bernie multiple times to ensure it is a good fit and set Bernie up for success. Initial introductions will involve a muzzle, so please be aware of this. Once Bernie trusts you and builds a bond with you, he is an amazing, loving, happy and sweet boy. However it is important to know that in a home setting, anybody new coming into the house will need to take introductions very slow. German Shepherd experience is a requirement. German shepherds are known to have hip problems, and unfortunately Bernie is affected by this. In our care he has had 2 FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) Surgery’s to correct his hips. However one of his hips never healed properly so he does have a limp on that leg from time to time. Bernard is an awesome boy once you take the time to get to know him. He is smart and loves his people. He will need a home without children and would do best as an only dog. If you are willing to give Bernie a chance, please fill out an adoption application. If you can give Bernard an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks. Thank you for your interest in saving the life of a dog.

Story
Our sweet girl Kayla is about the happiest/goofiest pup you can find. She is a beautiful mix breed who gives ample hugs and kisses to her humans. She has quite a bit of energy so would benefit from more training to hone in her skills and focus. She has all the potential in the world! She also has some mad jumping skills, so would need careful supervision in her future home. Kayla makes friends to every human she meets, and would likely do well with dogs with the proper introduction. She has been patiently awaiting her home for several months now & will be forever grateful to her person for giving her a chance. She truly is the sweetest! If you can give Kayla an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application.
