Story
Meet the handsome love-bug, Harley, aka the Captain's dog His is a story we are hearing all the time now. Abandoned by people on the streets. Found at Rancho Palos Verdes HS, emaciated and fearful. A kind-hearted police captain stepped up and took him in, and instead of taking him to a shelter called a rescuer. LisaMarie at HugHearts Foundation, who of course stepped up to save him. Sadly, no one claimed him, but he seems like a family dog and would be wonderful with children. This fun-loving fella is approximately 1-year-8 months and looks like a Belgian Shepherd/Labrador-Retriever blend with a St Bernard tail. Harley loves water (the lab in him for sure!) and needs a yard to play independently with his toys. He is kennel/ crate trained, walks great on a leash, and is completely house broken. leash, and potty trained. Of course, Harley is neutered, up to date on all his vaccines, and is microchipped. He’s very well trained in his basic puppy manners and is easy to manage, and he’s a puppy at heart pup who runs and plays around as a puppy should. Since we think Harley was a family pet, he’d likely do well with kids and would also make a great hiking and walking buddy. I am a firm believer is having potential adopters take a pup home for a “sleepover” to see how your family, your other pets, and your new best buddy all get along. We always take our rascals back if it isn’t a good fit. To meet this beautiful pupper and the rest of my foster pups (and maybe even have a sleepover), pls email findabestbuddy@gmail.com or call 858-602-2061 • findabestbuddy@gmail.com • (858) 602-2061

Story
This is Rosie, she is, what we believe to be, a Belgian Shepard mix. I acquired her from a couple online who lived in too small of a house to even give her room to run around and was kept in a cage for what I can only assume was most of her time spent there. I picked her up and brought her home with the understanding that she would be with more running around space and a family she would be adored with. Shes an amazing dog with lots of energy and lots of love to give out. She has no issues with aggressive behavior and loves other dogs and cats alike, although gets very excited when she shes one and gets a bit up in their space. Behaviorally nothing wrong. I now find myself in the position where my family is declining in their ability to properly look after her when I am not home. I would hate to see her not get what she ultimately deserves. All I ask is that she goes to someone who can keep up with her. Not looking for a rehoming fee, just a loving family. Thank you.

Story
How this pet arrived: Lola Bunny was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on January 1, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Lola Bunny! Lola Bunny bounced into our lives as a stray, so her backstory is a bit of a mystery. What we do know is that she's a shy little hopper who takes her time warming up. New things can be scary, but with plenty of space, soft baby talk, and maybe a treat or two, Lola starts to peek out of her shell and show her sweet side. She's looking for a quiet burrow to call home-ideally with adults or older kids (10+) who understand that good things come to those who wait. Keeping her world small and cozy while she settles in will help her feel safe and confident. If you're patient, kind, and ready to celebrate tiny victories (and big trust moments), Lola Bunny is ready to hop into your life. PS- if there a dog in the home, please bring them in to make sure everyone hops along happily! Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 54.6 Age: 1yrs 6mths 4wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Max was brought in by a community member on January 29, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Max! This high-energy guy lives life at maximum speed. He can be jumpy and mouthy, so Max is looking for patient, committed adopters who are ready to lean into positive reinforcement training-the whole household should be on Team Max and attend a meet-and-greet. He's best suited for a home with kids 10 years and up. When it comes to food, Max believes in maximum personal space and prefers to dine solo. He should be left alone while eating, and if there's another dog in the home, adopters should be ready to manage resources like pros. On the plus side, his finder reports that Max is potty trained and sleeps in a crate-proof that this "Max-imum" boy already has some solid skills and tons of potential! Excitable Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 59.2 Age: 2yrs 0mths 1wks
