Story
Meet the handsome love-bug, Harley, aka the Captain's dog His is a story we are hearing all the time now. Abandoned by people on the streets. Found at Rancho Palos Verdes HS, emaciated and fearful. A kind-hearted police captain stepped up and took him in, and instead of taking him to a shelter called a rescuer. LisaMarie at HugHearts Foundation, who of course stepped up to save him. Sadly, no one claimed him, but he seems like a family dog and would be wonderful with children. This fun-loving fella is approximately 1-year-8 months and looks like a Belgian Shepherd/Labrador-Retriever blend with a St Bernard tail. Harley loves water (the lab in him for sure!) and needs a yard to play independently with his toys. He is kennel/ crate trained, walks great on a leash, and is completely house broken. leash, and potty trained. Of course, Harley is neutered, up to date on all his vaccines, and is microchipped. He’s very well trained in his basic puppy manners and is easy to manage, and he’s a puppy at heart pup who runs and plays around as a puppy should. Since we think Harley was a family pet, he’d likely do well with kids and would also make a great hiking and walking buddy. I am a firm believer is having potential adopters take a pup home for a “sleepover” to see how your family, your other pets, and your new best buddy all get along. We always take our rascals back if it isn’t a good fit. To meet this beautiful pupper and the rest of my foster pups (and maybe even have a sleepover), pls email findabestbuddy@gmail.com or call 858-602-2061 • findabestbuddy@gmail.com • (858) 602-2061

These pups are in San Diego, California too!

Story
The Chance of a Lifetime! Hi pals! I’m Chance — a 2-year-old, 87-pound German Shepherd with a heart full of hope and a whole lot of love. My name isn’t just a name…it’s a promise. After everything I’ve been through, I’m here because someone gave me a second chance — and now I’m hoping you will too! I didn’t have the easiest start. I came from a place where I was chained up, starving, and left to chew whatever I could just to survive — rocks, concrete, whatever was near. By the time I was rescued, I was in ruff shape: malnourished, in pain, swollen with abscesses, and with most of my teeth broken down to the gum. TAP saw something in me. They gave me months of medical care, multiple surgeries, and more love than I’d ever known. Today? I’m healthy, pain-free, and finally able to enjoy life the way a dog should. Health-wise, I’ve got a couple of things to keep in mind. I have a heart condition that makes me sensitive to anesthesia — nothing scary day-to-day, but any future procedures need an experienced vet who’ll monitor my cardiovascular health. I don’t need meds, just awareness. I eat a soft diet but you’d never know it watching me chow down — especially with how excited I get (expect a little dance and song)! Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m the happiest boy. I love dogs — every shape, size, and energy level — and I’d do great with another playful pup! I haven’t been around many kids, but I’ve been super sweet with the ones I’ve met. I’m goofy, submissive, and always up for a game of tug-of-war or some zoomies at the park. When it’s time to relax you’ll find me curled up on the couch, tongue hanging out (I don’t have many teeth left to keep it in!). I’m potty trained and I’ll admit — I pull on the leash when I get excited, but I’m eager! I’ve been through a lot, and I do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or where I’ve got a doggy buddy to hang out with. I’m still healing emotionally and companionship means the world to me. Why take a chance on me? I’ve already shown what resilience looks like. I’ve been failed by humans before, but I still love them with everything I’ve got. I’m goofy, loyal, and full of gratitude for every belly rub and cozy nap. I deserve to finally feel safe, cherished, and free to just be a dog! If you’re ready to be the lucky one who gives me my second “Chance,” I promise I’ll be the most devoted, loving companion you’ve ever met! My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##2197184##

Story
Hi, I’m Kabru! I’m a 3-year-old, 73-pound German Shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. My journey started at Pasadena Humane as part of a fire relief effort before I made my way to TAP. I spent about three months in the shelter before getting my second chance, and now I’m ready to find my forever home! I’m a lovable, high-energy goofball who’s always ready for fun! I’m smart, affectionate, and love being the center of attention—but I’ll admit, I can be a little mischievous too (in the most charming way, of course). I thrive in an active home that keeps me engaged, and while I sometimes struggle with focus and have a little separation anxiety, I have so much potential! I’d do great with structure, training, and even a job to keep me busy. Whether it’s a long hike, a trip to the brewery, or an evening walk by the bay, I’m always up for an adventure! I’m already crate, leash, and potty trained, though I’m still working on getting even better on leash. Some of my favorite things? Kongs, tug-of-war, and long sniffy walks! I’m looking for an active family who has the time and patience to help me grow into the best companion I can be. I’d love a home with older kids and larger dog friends who can keep up with my energy and help show me how to be a polite gentleman. With the right guidance and plenty of playtime, I know I’ll make an amazing adventure buddy and loyal best friend. Could that be you? My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##2276548##
