Story
Polaris is a young girl who was found dumped on the side of the road with a bag of dog food dumped on the ground as her only help for survival. A good samaritan picked her up and contacted me. Help Polaris never face that kind of treatment again by giving her a forever home. She is very sweet and friendly and great with other dogs and people and kids. She definitely has a prey drive though, which is not at all unusual for dogs, so no kitties or small animals. She walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Mom and 3 puppies from Española Humane Society in NM. They originally came from Helping Hands in TX but were transferred to Española to participate in a prison foster program. There are 8 puppies total in the litter. 3 puppies were transferred to us on 8/25, 1 was adopted in NM, and the remaining 4 will come to us once they complete the prison foster program. From the foster: Meet Minnie — Tiny Name, Mighty Spirit 💕 Don’t let the name fool you—Minnie may be small in stature, but there is nothing small about her spirit. This little girl is a parvo survivor who fought her way through a tough start and is now wasting no time learning how to thrive. Minnie is eating like a champ and working hard to put some healthy weight back on. And while she may be catching up physically, she already has one thing in abundance: LOVE. Minnie absolutely, positively loves her people. If she isn’t busy playing with her foster fur-siblings, you’ll find her curled up next to someone in her family, soaking up every bit of affection she can get. She gives the sweetest soft kisses and is definitely not shy about letting you know when she’d like some more attention. Minnie is still working on her potty training and crate training, so she’ll need a family who understands that puppies are a work in progress. She isn’t a huge fan of being alone just yet, but honestly, can you blame her? After everything she’s been through, she simply wants to be where her people are. This little survivor has already shown just how much fight she has in her. Now she’s ready for the next chapter—a family who will help her continue to grow, learn, play, snuggle, and discover just how wonderful life can be. Minnie might be tiny, but her heart is anything but. And she’s ready to fill someone’s life with a whole lot of love. 🐾💕 www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

From the foster: Newest Update: She is the sweetest and gentle girl. She’s gotten so much better with walking on a leash. We’ve walked multiple times a day anywhere from 10 to 45 mins at a time, and she loves it. She is still not interested in toys, she’d rather snuggle on the couch or be roaming the house with you. Priscilla’s Foster Update: Priscilla is still the best pup! She has quickly settled into our daily routine and continues to impress us with how smart and eager to learn she is. She has mastered “sit”—although she prefers to show off her skills only when there’s carpet or a cozy blanket underneath her. Naturally, this earned her the nickname Pretty Princess Priscilla! She is calm, loving, and completely house trained. Her food guarding has also improved so much, especially now that she understands her bowl and treats are hers—and that there’s always plenty more where that came from! Priscilla is truly the sweetest, most loyal pup. She just wants to be loved, be near her people, and enjoy the good life. She really is the best girl! Original bio: Meet Mama Priscilla - the sweet girl with the prettiest face and an even sweeter personality! She is incredibly people-friendly and simply wants to be loved. She enjoys exploring her surroundings, especially when it leads her to a cozy spot where she can relax and hang out. She’s not much of a toy girl and mostly ignores our senior dogs, but she absolutely loves being by her people’s side. She’s loyal, affectionate, and has quickly become my little shadow. She’s also a very smart girl who is eager to learn. With a little patience, love, and training, I have no doubt she’s going to make an amazing companion. She’s already pretty special, and her forever family is going to be very lucky to have her! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
