He wandered into my garage and refuses to leave. He is loving. He nudges my hand to pet him constantly. He likes his belly rubbed. He knows sit and lay down commands. He will sit nicely and not take a treat until I say okay. He was very apprehensive when I first encountered him, but warmed up quickly when I gave him a treat. His teeth are clean and in great shape. He's skinny and could use a bath and grooming. No fleas apparent. He likes to run and play tug. He eagerly jumps in for a car ride. He is the most loving, intelligent dog you will ever meet. He is easy to love and will love you in return.

A kind Samaritan saw a homeless guy dump “Maizie” and walk away. When she caught him, he told her, "I don't want it anymore." She didn't know what to do except take her home. The next day, she took Maizie to the shelter to file a Found Dog report and asked about vaccinations. They refused to do both unless she relinquished her to the shelter. She didn't feel comfortable leaving a young puppy at the shelter, so she brought her home. She called Golden State and asked for help. Maizie is currently being fostered with an adult male Rhodesian Ridgeback, and a flock of chickens and roosters. She is learning house manners, crate training, and is housebroken. Maizie is a great traveler and loves being around people. We will continue to update Maizie’s bio as we get to know her better. FOSTERED IN COOL. Adopters who have experience, the time, and resources raising and training [GSD] puppies and who have been pre-approved through our puppy adoption process will be considered. NOTE: All puppies will be required to be spayed or neutered at six months of age, per FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL CODE – FAC DIVISION 14. REGULATION AND LICENSING OF DOGS. CHAPTER 1. General Provisions [30501 - 30505] ( Division 14 enacted by Stats. 1967, Ch. 15.)

Meet the fantastic Cooper! This guy is a short stack of appreciation. He is only about 55 pounds and on the smaller side for a male GSD. What does he appreciate, you may ask? Being away from the shelter of course and in a home with friends to play with, people to pet him, and a cozy bed to sleep on each night. Cooper was pulled from the Stockton Shelter in mid-July. That place was stressing him out! He needed time, structure and some confident dog and people companions in his life to help him decompress. He also needed to be neutered and to get rest during his recovery time. What helped Cooper move into the new chapter of his life: Short walks through the neighborhood. A patient and confident person. A playful pup friend. A predictable and structured routine. Love and understanding. Cooper tends to have some environmental anxiety but using the recipe above this guy will reward you with companionship, couch potato vibes, goofy antics, silly zoomies, and the softest sweetest eyes to stare into.
