This lovely lady is the perfect low-maintenance companion – she's completely housebroken, crate trained (though she doesn't need one), and knows basic commands like "sit" and "come." Dolly is a tripod after losing a back leg from being hit by a car, but don't let that fool you – she gets around beautifully and just occasionally needs a little boost into the car for her favorite activity: going for rides! With her extremely patient and friendly nature, Dolly gets along wonderfully with other dogs, including the energetic 10-pound Shih Tzu in her foster home who tries to play with her all day long. She walks okay on leash, has no desire to escape her fenced yard, and doesn't dig. Like a true Pyr, she'll announce visitors with enthusiastic barking until they settle in, then she's all about soaking up attention and pets. Dolly has met a teenager without any issues, and prefers spending her days inside, chilling on the sofa with her people before heading to bed early each evening. Her ideal home has a 5-foot fence, and is with someone who appreciates a gentle homebody (not a hiking partner), who will spoil her with cheese, bacon, and eggs, shower her with nose kisses, and tell her every day just how beautiful she truly is – because this patient, loving girl deserves all the adoration in the world! Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
