Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Big Red is a handsome, chill, and gentle young pup with a thick and super-soft deep red coat. He adores attention from his people, and loves to be hugged and pet. When his foster mom feeds him and his brothers, he will leave his food and get up in her lap for lovings, and then run back and eat some more! Big Red came into rescue with his five brothers, and all of them have young dog energy, enjoying an active lifestyle full of play and adventure. They are half Great Pyrenees, and 100% Good Boys! Red is almost leash trained, knows “sit,” is learning “down,” and is a breeze to groom - he’s done well with brushing and bathing and showed no reaction to nail trims - What a good boy! This curious little boy has lots of energy, but he is not above snoozing on the couch. He will make a great guard dog, as he barks to alert his humans if he sees or hears something out of place. Some words of praise from his people will quiet him down. He’s great with dogs and loves to play with his brothers - “Chase” is a favorite game of theirs! Big Red’s ideal home will have a huge box of toys waiting for him (teddy bears are his favorite!), and be with an active family that includes a canine sibling for him to play with. Red enjoys meeting new people (he’s friendly with everyone!), receiving lots of treats (peanut butter is awesome!), and having a good chew on a marrow bone. Is laid-back Big Red the pup for you?! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. March 3, 2026, 1:43 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ted, best known as Teddy, is a wonderfully affectionate Great Pyrenees who embodies the phrase "lover boy" in every sense. This silly, lovable gentleman is completely housebroken and enjoys a medium activity level, making him a delightful companion for the right home. Teddy is currently working on his crate training and leash walking skills and will need a secure 6-foot fence to keep him safe. What makes Teddy truly special is his enormous heart—he views every person he meets as an instant friend, whether it's children (with whom he's fantastic), adults, or even complete strangers. He has zero interest in cats and is friendly with all female dogs. He requires another dog in the home, preferably a dominant female, who can provide him companionship and structure. Teddy’s greatest need is simple: he wants to be with his people. This velcro dog experiences separation and confinement anxiety when left alone, which means he thrives best in a quiet home with someone who works from home or can take him along on car rides. And if his humans have to leave the home, he’d be content making friends with the doggie sitter! He's happiest sleeping in bed with his humans and following them from room to room throughout the day. While he does whine and will bark to come back inside, he's otherwise quite quiet and doesn't dig. Teddy prefers being indoors and is motivated entirely by attention and affection rather than treats—though he does enjoy soft boiled eggs, chicken feet, and cheese as special favorites. His ideal forever home would include patient people who understand his need for constant companionship, has a large female Pyr already, and is committed to continuing his training journey. If you have the time, love, and canine companion that Teddy needs, this sweet lap dog will reward you with unwavering devotion and endless affection.
