Shayna's owner was moved to Memory Care. Shayna is 12 yrs old and does not like to be picked up. She is affectionate on her own terms and wants to follow you all day and sleep in bed with you. She needs to be taken out every 2 hours (except at night) and will use a pee pad. She is a good girl but can be standoffish with new people. She will be very protective once she bonds with you.

Shantail is a sweet and beautiful 9-year-old, 14-lb Maltipoo/Bichon mix with a gentle, soulful personality. She was surrendered to Shelter Hope when her previous owner’s medical condition made it impossible for them to continue caring for her. Shantail is affectionate, cuddly, loving, and wonderfully gentle. She gets along well with other dogs and is happiest when she can be close to her person. She’s also spry and youthful for her age, enjoys her walks, and is great with her potty training! This sweet girl would love a calm, loving home where she can count on plenty of affection and a predictable routine. Someone who works from home or is around often could be a great fit for Shantail, since she really enjoys having her person nearby. Meet Millerl! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 2 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Miller and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app September 23, 2026, 8:52 pm
