I came to Big Dog Ranch as a breeder release after spending my whole life in heartbreaking conditions, used over and over for puppies and rarely touched with kindness. I don’t know what it feels like to be part of a family, and I’ve never even had a leash clipped onto me. The world outside my cage is completely new and sometimes scary. It may take me months to understand that hands can be gentle and homes can be safe, but deep down I’m hoping someone will give me the patience and love I’ve never had. Her past life offered very little in the way of kindness or human connection, so she’s learning—slowly and gently—that people can be safe and loving. Because of her background, Solstice is very shy and timid. Sudden movements or loud noises easily frighten her, and she is considered a flight risk. She will need a calm, patient adopter who has prior experience with dogs, particularly shy or fearful ones. Solstice has a low energy level and would thrive in a peaceful home with consistent routines and minimal chaos. She’s good on a leash, gets along well with other dogs, and is hypoallergenic—making her a great fit for someone sensitive to allergens. Due to her fearfulness and history, Solstice is not suitable for a home with children. However, she would do well with a senior or a quiet individual or couple in an apartment or condo setting. With time, patience, and understanding, Solstice has the potential to blossom into a sweet and loyal companion. Rio Is 12 Years 8 Months and 10lbs I have had him for 5 years now I adopted him in 2020 He is a loving, sweet and only sour when it comes to changing his diaper (2 Years Now) Other than that he just wants to be around, he doesnt like to be alone, so he would be great for someone that works from home He currently wears diapers because he Is like a baby all over again, I took him to the vet he has perennial hernias. Ive just been trying to love him through it but I know he needs TLC. Im trying to find him a new home to prevent the choice of surrendering him to the Humane Society for Treatment or Letting Him Go. The fee is just to make sure he goes to a capable home but can be lowered
