Story
Meet Jax- He's an incredibly cool senior boy who is laid back and easy to love. He just turned 14 and is still going strong! Jax is a Bichon Frise, 13 pounds and already neutered and fully vaccinated. He lets you know when he needs to go out to the bathroom, loves all the humans he meets and is good with most other dogs. Jax does not have any teeth, and rather than opt for dentures, he has chosen to embrace the Gene Simmons look!   Jax would be an amazing dog for another active senior! Jax is available for adoption at www.chesed-rescue.org/adoptions. We background and vet check and are looking for stable homes. March 9, 2026, 12:14 pm

Story
Meet Enzo! He is a Shih Tzu who has endured a lifetime of neglect after being rescued from an overcrowded, overrun breeding situation in Tennessee during freezing temperatures. His world was once very small, and he was only ever used—never loved, never shown what it means to be safe in a home. Now that Enzo is in rescue, he’s beginning the slow, brave journey of learning trust. He is fearful and needs a very gentle, patient approach. A calm, quiet home will be essential for him to feel secure and open up at his own pace. Enzo has never been a home dog before, so everything—from household routines to human affection—is new to him. He does well with other dogs, which helps boost his confidence. Enzo is currently scared of the leash, but our trainers are working with him on building confidence and structure. At this time, he does not enjoy being handled yet, but with consistency, patience, and respect for his boundaries, he continues to make progress. Enzo is looking for an experienced, compassionate adopter who understands that healing takes time and that trust is earned, not rushed. With the right home, Enzo has the potential to truly blossom and discover the life he’s always deserved

Story
**ALL ADOPTIONS INCLUDE A HOME VISIT. YOU MUST LIVE IN BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** Meet Pound Cake: A Sweet Soul Learning That The World Is Kind Pound Cake is a petite one-year-old Shih Tzu. She is11 pounds of solid little muscle wrapped in tenderness. When she hears her name, she offers the sweetest puppy bow and a playful tail wag, as she wiggles towards you. She loves closeness, not in a demanding way, but in a heartfelt one. She will lean into you, settle by your side, and offer soft, sugary kisses. When she arrived, her fur was severely matted and had to be shaved down completely. Beneath the neglect was a beautiful white coat with brindle markings that will grow back in time. More importantly, beneath the rough start was a resilient, affectionate little dog who still believes in people. It seems Pound Cake lived a secluded early life. Every day sounds and simple movements, doors opening, new noises, are still things she is learning to trust. She is discovering that the world does not mean her harm. With calm reassurance and steady leadership, her confidence grows each day. Out in the yard, she finds her joy. Zoomies, playful moments with her toys, and bursts of youthful energy remind you that she is still very much a puppy at heart. Inside, she settles into a gentle cuddle companion. Pound Cake will thrive with a devoted, dog-savvy home that understands transitions take time. A patient adopter who offers structure, kindness, and consistency will see her blossom into a loyal, affectionate partner. This dog's adoption fee is $650 to go towards their vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/Ehrlichia/Lyme test, fecal test, pre-op blood work, dental cleaning, and microchip as well as grooming if needed). If you are interested, please fill out the adoption application. For additional information regarding our adoption process, please check our FAQ's Page.   *All dogs in the care of Get a Life Pet Rescue live in loving foster homes while waiting for their perfect match. They don't live in cages or crates (unless there is a medical reason to do so.) They are treated as family pets while in our care. * All dogs in our care are fed premium brand holistic food as well as supplements and vitamins specific to each dog's needs. We don't buy inexpensive bulk dry kibble; our rescues are fed premium wet food diets as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program to ensure maximum health. .*All of our rescues receive complete quality vetting, including full dental cleaning with pre-op bloodwork, spay/neuter, vaccines, and grooming. Dogs in need of specialized medicine will be seen by specialists, including full cardiac workups, ophthalmologist visits, and all suspicious lumps and bumps will be biopsied, and every medical need will be transparent to potential adopters. *Once you adopt from Get a Life Pet Rescue, you become part of our compassionate family, and we are here for you if a problem with your precious dog arises. ##2665752##
