Cole entered our care as an owner surrender. He is a 15 lb 3 year old chi/poodle/bichon mix that was adopted from another rescue at 5 months old. The rescue refused to take him back. So, his humans contacted us and TPR decided to give this guy a chance. We do not know what his life was like for those 5 months before adoption.   Cole is little, a walking fluffy teddy bear. A walking sour patch kid, Cole’s sweet side is perfection- quiet, good on leash, great with dogs, housebroken, and well trained. Outside, Cole is very friendly and enjoys meeting other dogs. He makes friends easily and is indifferent to felines. His challenging component is that he is basically a feral cat. He will approach you when he wants affection and love, but gets uncomfortable, and becomes disinterested in human contact. Cole struggles with body handling and only enjoys it in small doses. All in all, Cole just needs someone that will give him the space he needs and limited affection, until he is ready- whenever that may be.    We firmly believe that there is someone out there for everyone. Until we find that perfect person, Cole needs a foster home that will help him be his best self. He will not do well in boarding and we worry he will only worsen without a consistent human interaction and home. Bouncing him around would be detrimental to a boy who already struggles to trust. Meet Jaxon Jacks! Jaxon is a purebred Bichon and an absolute sweetheart of a boy. He is nine months old and only 10 1/2 pounds! Jaxon is a playful, happy boy. He loves playing with other dogs and being with his people. He does great walking on a leash and is perfectly housetrained unless it rains, and then he doesn’t want to go outside! He does use Potty Pads, or at least gets close to them! Jaxon will do better with someone home most of the time as well as another playful dog around the house. Jaxon has done well with the cat he’s been introduced to, and also with kids. Jaxon ended up at the shelter after his human died. We are so glad we found him! This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Molly was abandoned at a veterinary hospital because she was "too old, and had bad teeth". She received a dentistry, and was found to otherwise be in excellent health. While making her way to NJ to find her forever home, she met a shy, scared little dog named Brownie. They formed an inseparable bond, and now sweet, friendly Ms. Molly, with her new smile, and her new best friend Brownie in tow is looking for a home who will take both of them. Molly is approximately 8 years old. She is spayed; will have her full series of Distemper, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; is fecal tested and dewormed; and has been tested for heartworm and lyme disease, and has received flea and tick and heartworm preventatives. She is missing most of her teeth, and has a unique smile, but she eats well, and her remaining teeth are healthy. Molly is friendly, sweet, and affectionate. She is great with people and all other animals. She and Brownie are very bonded, and must be adopted together. Brownie is very shy and nervous, but Molly sets the example for him, encouraging him to be brave and setting the example of how to do new things. They will do best in an experienced, adult only home with adopters who understand how to be patient and move slowly with Brownie. A previous veterinary reference is required. Molly and Brownie will only be adopted within the tri-state area. Potential adopters must state in their email that they have a previous veterinary reference, previous dog experience, and that they want to adopt both Molly and Brownie.
