WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: TridentBREED: Bichon Frise x Pomeranian DOB: Jul 10, 2025 (16 weeks)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Trident would do best in a calm, patient home that can help him continue to build confidence and trust. Having another gentle dog in the home would likely help him feel secure, as he often looks to other dogs for comfort. Hes a sensitive soul who finds peace in cozy spots and close companionship, so a nurturing family willing to give him time and reassurance would be ideal.Personality: Trident is a sweet little shadow who loves to follow his foster sister and snuggle right up to her. He looks to her for comfort and has even started to initiate play. He enjoys the comfort and companionship of another dog.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Trident is very comfortable in his crate and slept through the night in a covered crate. Hes still getting used to wearing a leash, so leash training will be the next focus in the coming days. Hes also working on perfecting his wee wee pad traininghes already peed on the pad twice and even pooped outside, which is great progress!WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Trident were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. A quiet home with a predictable routine and access to a safe outdoor space would help him continue to build confidence and feel secure.Personality: Dentyne is curious and slowly becoming more confident, exploring new spaces on his own. With gentle encouragement and patience, hes sure to come out of his shell and show more of his brave personality as he adjusts to his new surroundings.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Dentyne sleeps comfortably in his crate both at night and during the day. Hes still learning how to walk on a leash and will need continued training and patience in that area. Since he loves walks and toys, an active household or one with a fenced yard would be ideal for him to burn off his energy. He would also do well with another friendly dog companion or as the center of attention in a home that can give him lots of love and interaction. Beech-Nut will make a wonderful and loyal addition to any home.Personality: Beech-Nut a social, happy-go-lucky pup who thrives around people and would enjoy a family that appreciates his playful, goofy personality. KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Beech-Nut is doing great with his training! Hes very comfortable in his crate and often chooses to rest there on his own during the day, even with the door open. Hes also picked up leash walking quickly and enjoys his walks with a constantly wagging tail, showing no fear of his surroundings. Beech-Nut is also doing well with his potty traininghe consistently uses the pee pad, though hes still learning that he should go outside.
