Story
MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Checkers is a sweet, cuddly little guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He absolutely thrives on attention and would happily be your tiny coworker — he loves sleeping right beside his person while they work and is content to snooze peacefully just about anywhere. Checkers gets along wonderfully with other small dogs and loves to play and chase with his canine friends. He has not yet met children. While he doesn’t seem aggressive toward cats, he does try to chase them — especially at night — and will corner them in what appears to be playful behavior. However, because of this, we feel a cat-free home would be the safest and best fit for everyone. He is crate trained and settles nicely after a few minutes of protest — once he’s relaxed, he sleeps through the night. He’s currently working on potty training and making good progress. He takes correction well and is eager to please. Checkers is a toy enthusiast, especially when it comes to crinkle toys! He also loves treats and takes them ever so gently. When it comes to meals, he can be a bit of a foodie — he prefers a little something tasty mixed into his kibble, but once you add a spoonful of wet food or topper, he cleans his bowl. More than anything, Checkers loves companionship. He does not enjoy being left alone for long periods and would do best in a home where someone is around often or where he has another playful dog for company. If you’re looking for a cuddly, playful little shadow who will happily keep you company all day long, Checkers may be your perfect match If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the first thing to do is submit an application for approval. All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the rescue location as it is a privately run boarding, training, & grooming facility. Individual meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. MBR Farm is offering ONE Free Private Training session for dogs adopted from us in the month of March. That is a $125 value. Any additional session will be discounted to $80 per private session for an unlimited amount of sessions. No limit, no time limit. Story
Meet Flower 🌸 Like her namesake in Bambi, our little Flower is soft-spoken, tender-hearted, and impossibly sweet. This 6-year-old Bichon beauty weighs just 12 pounds, but her gentle spirit fills the whole room. Flower is the kind of girl who tiptoes into your life quietly… and then blooms right in your heart. She has a shy side at first — a delicate little blossom taking her time to open — but once she feels safe, her sweetness shines. True to her woodland inspiration, Flower feels most confident when she has other dogs around. Canine friends help her feel brave and secure, and she truly blossoms in a home with another friendly pup to show her the way. She’s wonderfully dog-friendly and gains so much comfort from her furry companions. Flower is not yet potty trained, so she’ll need a patient, loving family ready to guide her with kindness and consistency. With gentle encouragement (and maybe a confident dog sibling to lead by example), she’ll continue to grow. If you’re looking for a soft, affectionate little companion with a tender heart — a sweet soul who just needs a safe place to bloom — Flower may be your perfect match. 🌼 Email us at therescueinn@gmail.com AND complete an application here: https://therescueinn.com/adoption-application.html

Story
Charlie is a 7-years young, 12-pound Yorkie Bichon (Yorkie-Chon). With a smile that makes bulldogs jealous and 'i have my therapist on speed dial' vibes, Charlie is not looking for an adventure. Adventure is for other dogs. Charlie is looking for a couch, a routine, and a human who understands that his needs are simple. But non-negotiable. How did a handsome guy like Charlie end up looking for a new home? Sadly, his person passed away. He was devestated in the way that only a loyal little guy like him could be, and he's been figuring out what life looks like now. He's getting there. He just needs the right landing spot. As you might have guessed, Charlie is not a 'go with the flow' kind of pup. He's particular. Knows what he wants. Definitely knows what he doesn't want (you can put that leash away because cardio is not on his agenda). Thrives on routine. Prefers to know where you are at all times. Not in a conjoined twin way, more in a "I would like you to remain visible or I will have concerns" way. If you've ever watched Sheldon Cooper manage an unexpected change of plans, congratulation, you now have a working understanding of Charlie's inner dialogue. As mentioned, walks are not his thing but he does great in the car. Shotgun, naturally. He coexists with respectful small dogs just fine and will occasionally, when the mood strikes, acknowledge them. Big dogs are on the 'no' list, they are clearly plotting his death (even if they don't know he exists). Cats don't seem to interest him one way or the other. Human food, on the other hand, interests him enormously and he believes kibble is his personal cross to bear when he should CLEARLY be eating human food.  When his foster family gets too rowdy, he serves up his signature "you have been judged and found guilty" look and relocates to his crate until they can behave more civilized. Like him. He sleeps in the bed. Because comfort is a priority for Charlie.  Housebreaking took a temporary hit, partly trauma, partly a strong opinion about cold weather, but seems to be back on track! We've been on a great winning streak even with the late february snow! Charlie needs someone who is home. A remote worker, a young retired senior who keeps a quiet house, someone whose schedule is a rhythm he can learn and count on. He doesn't need constant attention but he needs to know his person will be there. Once he trusts that you're staying, he will settle into your life like he was always supposed to be in it. Charlie requires professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. If you have a groomer referral, please include it with your application. If you have additional questions about Charlie, please email his current foster therapist (kidding) at 4leggedlayover@gmail.com Adoption Fee: $400, which includes neuter, DENTAL, microchip, vaccines, and current prevention.
