Meg is a black and tan coonhound mix with classic hound charm, a gentle soul, and lots of playful energy. Found as a stray, she greets people with happy tail wags and soft eyes, even if she’s a little unsure at first. Once she warms up, her affectionate and goofy personality shines. True to her hound roots, Meg loves to follow her nose and enjoys running, sniffing, and exploring. She’s generally easy on leash, comfortable passing other dogs, and gains confidence the more time she spends with you. Indoors, she plays hard and then happily settles in for long naps once she feels safe and relaxed. Meg is a high-energy dog who adores other dogs and would do best with a confident, highly energetic canine companion who matches her rough-and-rowdy play style and stamina. She is sweet-natured, people-friendly, and not aggressive—just full of enthusiasm. Because loud, unpredictable noises overwhelm her, Meg is not suited for apartment or city living and would thrive in a quiet suburban or rural home with a secure fenced yard and low-traffic walking areas. She’s highly coachable and has made great progress with house training and nighttime crate training, though her forever home should be prepared to continue working on crate comfort and independence. With patience, reassurance, and the right environment, Meg will blossom into a loving, loyal companion. If you’re a hound lover with space, time, and an active lifestyle, Meg is ready to sniff out her forever home!

If you are interested in Winston, please contact Carol at carol.attuso@gmail.com From Winston's owner: We are looking to rehome Winston. Winston is a 1 year old healthy, neutered mix breed male, about 50 pounds. He is house broken, crate trained, leash trained, does not mark or hump. He has all current vaccines, records and heart worm/flea tick treatments on time (comes with a 6 month supply) He is very high energy and needs a home with a big fenced yard and other dogs. He loves to play!! Good with kids. Likes long walks, car rides, bully sticks, peanut butter kongs and lots of belly rubs. Needs to be in a home either with other dogs or where he is not alone often. Does get crate anxiety during the day. Would be an amazing agility dog Winston is in the Richmond VA area. Mikey is a big chunk of a boy, he is approx. 75-80 lbs. He is a quiet boy and very neat. He will be available for adoption on 7-20-25. Visit him at the Rockbridge Spca or email manager@rockbridgespca.net heartworm tested: negative visit our fb page: dogs of rockbridge and rockbridge spca. NOTE: all animals adopted are taken straight to a local veterinarian for spay/neuter. We do adopt out of area providing adopter is will to make more than one trip. There are NO exceptions, and we do not hold animals. All Kittens and puppies must weigh 2 lbs. for surgery and there are a limited number of veterinarians in our area that will do a pediatric spay/neuter. please note the Rockbridge Spca does not have emotional support animals or service animals. we do not adopt to college students, however, they are welcome to volunteer.

No, I'm not a grouch from Sesame Street (although I do have my moments), and I'm not the messy Oscar from the Odd Couple. I am Oscar the hound. A redbone coonhound to be precise. Since I am a hound, my nose leads the way on long walks. I am great with other dogs. I especially love to relax outdoors in the sun and I am house trained. I also know basic commands and take treats well. I love car rides! While I am primarily good-natured, I can be protective of food, toys, and objects that I think are mine. I would do best in a home with no children and a strong experienced owner. A few other things about me. I do the "Oscar dance to make a pitch for some yummy treats. Also, I always, always have a smile on my face. I love low-key living and know a great home is out there for me. Come and visit to see my Oscar dance, and let's get to know each other! If you have the experience and are looking for a dog to hang out on the back porch and bath in the sun. I am the Oscar for you.
