Story
Hi folks, I'm STRAWBERRY (Sadie) and here is some info about me:Breed: Black mouth CurAge: 2-1/2 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 42 lbsCountry of origin: MexicoHighlight(s): super smart, loving, sweet, loyal, energetic Why a strawberry? Because I ooze juicy sweetness and am full of yummy goodness.Someone had alerted my rescuer about my presence a few blocks from my rescuer's home, so she cane and saved me. I was pregnant and ready to burst. She finally managed to get me in her car and brought me home. But, I escaped... heehee... and went back to the area I knew. So, the next day, my rescuer came again and found me hiding under cars. I was very leery. The neighbors helped and they finally got me back in her car again. She took me straight away to the vet.I ended up having my puppies and they've all since been adopted. Now there's just me to find a forever family of my own. I am currently in a foster home and doing well. I've learned confidence, so I'm not a scared pup anymore. After a bit of exercise, I'm very good about chilling out at home afterward. I'm really an  exceptionally intelligent girl. Training should be a breeze and I bet you could even train me to do awesome tricks. Being loved on is quite enjoyable, so I will make a very good best friend. I have a heart that's ever so loyal.I am fine with other dogs and my rescuer states I am good with kitties too, though there is no video proof. I have not really been around kids much, but I appear to be okay with them too.I so hope you are looking for an energetic, fruity girl to fill a doggie basket in your home. We can have some great adventures together. Energy Level: moderate-highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: unknown. Rescuer states likely, but no video proof Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated & microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2769928##

Good with dogs,
Story
Hiya! My name is CANDY and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Black Mouth Cur mix (best guess really!)  Age: Approximately 6 years Gender: Female Weight: 35 lbs (16 kg)  Height: 32 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 45 cm (head to butt) Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - My Rescuer found me near a carwash in Mexico City. I was in heat, surrounded by stray dogs, and visibly injured. As you can imagine, I was a bit disoriented and in need of some real help! I'm so thankful for my Rescuer who immediately had me checked out, turns out I had been in an accident (hit by a car, we think) and had a partially healed hip fracture and likely a head injury.  Some kind folks banded together and checked me into a special care facility for pups! Here I received the medical and rehabilitation attention needed to get me back into tip-top shape! Today I am a fully recovered, healthy, and happy gal!  TEMPERAMENT - During my recovery I learned to coexist pretty well with other dogs, but I can be a bit reactive at first. While I can gain confidence and become more comfortable over time, I am sometimes uncomfortable in social settings. I’m still unlearning a few old habits from the days when I didn't know where my next meal was coming from. Because of that, I can be a little protective of my food bowl. But don’t worry—I’m a perfect lady as long as I have my own quiet space to eat. For these reasons, my Rescuers think I would really thrive in a single dog household.  ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I’m a medium energy gal! At first meet, I can be shy, but over time I become more comfortable and can be friendly and affectionate. I love humans and getting ALLLL the pets! Like in these videos here and here! I am so looking forward to finding my forever home, and getting all the love I deserve. Will that be with you?! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes, here is a video of me getting pets from a kiddo. Dogs –  Yes, I co-exist with dogs here at the shelter, but I can be a bit guarded. Check out videos of me with other pups here, here, and here. Cats – No. I would not do well in a home with cats, sorry kitties!  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Pretty good, but I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Check out videos of me on a leash here, here, here, and new video here! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. I seem to have a decreased sense of smell, but it doesn't slow me down one bit! Otherwise, I'm all healed up from my pre-rescue injuries. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates. ##2241281##
