Story
Wilbur is a 4.5 month old Black Mouth Cur mix puppy looking for an active home that’s ready for all the fun that comes with puppyhood. He currently weighs about 20 pounds and will likely grow into a medium-large sized dog. When Wilbur first came to us, he was extremely underweight and had clearly been through a lot for such a young puppy. Now that he’s safe, healthy, and finally getting the care he deserves, his personality has completely blossomed. Wilbur is playful, goofy, incredibly smart, and FULL of energy. He loves flirt pole time, roughhousing with other playful dogs, shredding cardboard boxes, toys, treats, and anything that keeps his busy puppy brain engaged. He would thrive with an adopter who enjoys an active lifestyle and is committed to continued training, structure, exercise, and enrichment. He’s currently being fostered around a cat and has been coexisting well. He’s also very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. Nail trims and handling are easy when treats are involved. Wilbur is not a couch potato puppy. He’s the kind of dog who wants to play hard, learn new things, stay busy, and fully be part of the action. Beneath all the puppy antics is a really sweet, happy boy who is finally getting the chance to just be a puppy.

Story
Charlotte is a 4.5 month old Black Mouth Cur mix puppy with the sweetest little soul. She currently weighs about 15 pounds and will likely grow into a medium-sized dog. Charlotte came to us severely underweight and clearly hadn’t had the easiest start to life. Since being safe in foster care, she’s blossomed into the most loving, affectionate little puppy. She’s playful and silly like any puppy her age, but she also has such a soft, cuddly side to her. Charlotte loves being close to her people, soaking up attention, and curling up for snuggles after she’s gotten her puppy energy out. She’s the kind of puppy that makes you laugh one minute and melt into your lap the next. She enjoys toys, treats, playing with other dogs, and exploring the world around her. Charlotte is doing well with crate training and has been such a sweetheart in foster care. She’s happy, loving, adorable, and ready for a family of her own.

Story
Meet Goose! A spirited three-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix currently living in Berkeley, CA, whose essence is a delightful blend of speckled charm, boundless energy, and sun-soaked silliness. With her tan and white coat speckled like a giraffe and a face full of expression, Goose is 55 pounds of brains, goof, and love! She’s incredibly affectionate, curious, and energetic—true to her working-dog roots—and thrives when she has space to roam, explore, and play. Her absolute happiest moments happen in open areas with other dogs, whether she’s at doggy daycare, on group hikes, or galloping across her favorite 17-acre off-leash dog park. She’s got a floppy, cuddly side too, especially in the evenings, when she transforms into a snugglebug ready to curl up beside you! Goose has been through formal training and knows a wide variety of commands including “sit,” “come,” “leave it,” “touch,” and “place.” She has great recall and is eager to please, especially if treats are involved. But she is also highly sensitive to certain city-life triggers like scooters, skateboards, and sudden movements. She has been reactive when startled by things like people with assistive devices or rolling luggage, and she once had a bite incident during a trail walk when a passing bicyclist spooked her. It was an isolated, unreported event—Goose immediately retreated to her dog walker afterward—but it highlights her need for a calmer, more predictable environment. This clever girl would flourish in a rural or countryside home with a large, securely fenced yard, another friendly dog or two, and a guardian who understands the needs of sensitive, reactive pups. Goose is good with older kids, but due to her tendency to get jumpy and mouthy when excited, a home without young children is best. Goose has a high prey drive and tends to chase cats, squirrels, and birds. That said, she's recently started coexisting peacefully with farm cats and chickens at her boarder’s rural property—proof that with the right environment and routine, she can settle into life alongside other animals. She is crate trained, house-trained, vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She’ll come with her crate, cozy bed, favorite stuffies, and enrichment toys—all the comforts of home, ready to go! Could your peaceful, dog-loving space be the perfect fit for Goose’s big heart and joyful spirit? Email adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about welcoming this sweet, speckled girl into your life!

Story
Meet Gigi! A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd mix currently living in Long Beach, CA, whose essence is a radiant whirl of playful energy wrapped in a striking red and black coat. Gigi is a vibrant young girl with an affectionate heart and a mind eager to learn! She thrives on routine, adventure, and companionship. Every morning at 6:30 AM, she’s ready for breakfast before embarking on her favorite ritual – a refreshing walk in the park where she sniffs every flower, greets the morning sun, and showcases her elegant shepherd trot. Later in the day, she loves playing ball with the same enthusiasm as if discovering the game for the first time, her tail wagging like a metronome of pure joy! She currently weighs 50 pounds and will become a large, strong beauty. Gigi has been working on her obedience training and already knows commands like sit, wait, and leave it. With her high intelligence and desire to please, her new family will find that she thrives on positive reinforcement and consistent guidance to build her confidence around new people and dogs. This affectionate pup is still working on crate training and managing her separation anxiety, so she needs a family who can offer structure, patience, and lots of love to help her feel secure when left alone. Because she bonds so closely with her person, her loyalty and protective instincts shine through in the sweetest ways – from leaning her body into yours for cuddles to watching over you with gentle eyes. Gigi is currently attending doggy day camp and continues to learn new skills and is socializing with other pups. She has had some successful playdates with other dogs, although she can be shy at first, and she hasn’t been around cats to know how she might respond. She’s never been around children, but her guardian believes she could do well with older kids who can handle her exuberant energy. Gigi is spayed, house-trained, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. She needs a new loving home with a securely fenced yard and an active family ready for her joyful energy, intelligence, and silly affectionate quirks. Could your heart and home be the next great adventure for Gigi’s journey? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to bring this bright, loving girl into your family today!

Meet Maya aka Velcro Girl (in the best possible way) Maya is a gorgeous 35-lb Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with stunning burnt-orange coloring, soulful amber eyes, and a sweet dark mask that makes her look permanently smitten with life. About 12 months old, Maya is a devoted young mama who raised three puppies and is now ready to be someone’s beloved companion. She’s gentle and a little thoughtful at first, but once she warms up, Maya is deeply loving, loyal, and emotionally tuned in. She earned the nickname “Velcro” because she truly wants to be near her people. Her signature move? Greeting you with a stuffed toy in her mouth every time you come home — her way of saying “I missed you.” Maya is: • Great with other dogs • Excellent on leash • Knows sit • Loves zoomies and cuddles • A total lap-lover • Sensitive, intuitive, and people-oriented Maya isn’t just beautiful — she’s soft, soulful, steady, and special. The kind of dog that truly belongs with you. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who sticks close and fills your life with warmth, Maya is ready to meet you.
