Story
Meet bonded pair Blake (darker) and Jake (redder) a pair of 9ish month old Doberman mixes. These boys are so fun and terrific and silly and goofy. They`re still very much in the puppy phase they definitely are testing boundaries and learning what’s expected of them. Blake is a bit mouthier and bolder, Jake is a bit simpler and the one more likely to be vocal. Overall they were very quiet even when in the middle of a heavy play session. The only time we really heard vocalizations from them is when play got too rough for Jake and he had to tell his brother to quit it. They’re still growing, and together it’s already a lot of dog to take on, so their adopters need to be ready for a lot of action. Since they’re goofy babies, getting them transitioned into a new home and learning the rules will take some up front effort, but once they lock in, it’ll be great. They’ll love going on adventures, but they’re also quite content to entertain each other- one of the best perks of a bonded pair, you don’t have to work hard to burn their play energy, they use sibling power for that. We super enjoyed hanging out with these goobers and could have spent all afternoon with them, easily. While not every human and home is ready or right for 2 big goofball dogs, the home that is ready for them will be incredibly lucky, because these guys are the absolute best!

Story
Maya is a gorgeous, loving, and energetic two year old girl who aims to please and loves affection. She is tall and athletic, and loves running, playing, and chewing. She also loves to dig to reach the roots so wood chew toys are great. Maya loves being outdoors and makes an amazing camping companion. She protects the home and announces cats, squirrels, and humans. She is house and crate trained (a treat is expected!) but prefers being outside during the day and sleeping in the indoors crate for naps and overnight. She does not spend unsupervised time inside the house but snuggles on a couch like a champ. Maya knows basic commands and is an agility whiz. A painful decision. She is a lover girl and deserves much joy. Adoption fee will be donated to Caravana Canina. Maya was rescued as a young puppy in the outskirts of Oaxaca by Caravana Canina (see Instagram). She just turned two in October and I have had her since April of 2024. An open adoption would be great, but is not required.

Story
Meet Stevie! A spirited five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound currently in Ventura, CA, whose essence is pure comedic charm wrapped in a stunning tri-color coat and punctuated by the most expressive eyes and floppy ears you’ve ever seen. Stevie is a true original. Goofy, sweet, and endlessly entertaining! Whether she's bounding full-speed through a fenced yard, joining a pack of dog friends for a play session, or trotting proudly on a leash (while alerting the neighborhood with her unmistakable bay), she brings a dose of joy wherever she goes. Her hound nose is always on the move, so scent-based games like treat-hiding are right up her alley! She's also a fan of long hikes, cozy naps after exercise, and at home she’s actually quite independent, happy to do her own thing. She does get excited when it’s time to go out and always hopes to join for car rides, where she does great on regular 2-hour trips. Don’t let the loud bark and stubborn streak fool you, Stevie is affectionate, silly, and incredibly smart. She’s crate trained, house trained, and knows commands like sit, stay, place, and even a few party tricks like “bang,” “speak,” and “shake.” While she may get a little overenthusiastic on-leash around unfamiliar dogs, she shines in off-leash environments and has peacefully coexisted with other dogs during extended visits. She’s a friend to all humans, including toddlers and babies, and is always happy to greet visitors with a wag and a smile! Stevie lives with a rare autoimmune disorder called Hypoparathyroidism, but don’t worry, her condition is well-managed with one daily pill which she takes easily with her food. She’s been completely symptom-free since starting treatment, and her pet insurance helps cover routine bloodwork to keep things on track. This active, scent-driven hound thrives in a home that understands her breed’s quirks like a deep voice, strong-willed nature, and a powerful nose that sometimes leads her on kitchen adventures. A fenced yard, regular exercise, and a bit of patience are all she needs to shine. Ready to laugh every day and share your life with a dog full of personality, heart, and hound dog hilarity? Stevie might be the perfect match! Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this lovable girl.
