Story
Meet Maisie! Good with dogs? Yes. Maisie plays enthusiastically with medium and large dogs. She is a high energy girl and loves to play with other dogs her size with similar play style. Good with cats? No. Maisie has a high prey drive which could be typical of her breed. We do not recommend a home for her with other small animal pets. Good with kids? Maisie doesn't know her physical limits or boundaries yet. It's not aggression but clumsiness and enthusiasm. She may do well in a home with older children. She is working on not jumping up but could easily knock small children over. Energy level? This is a high energy girl who delights in play, exercise, walks/hikes and adventure. She loves to ride in the car! She is athletic and strong. Medical/behavioral needs? Maisie has no known medical needs. She does resource guard her food from other dogs. She does not display similar behavior with humans. She eats voraciously, but she takes treats very gently. House trained? Maisie is mostly house trained, but she does have occasional accidents. Her communication is the same whether she wants to go out or she's hungry, so she needs someone to teach her a specific communication for needing to go potty. Animal Characteristics? Maisie is a super intelligent young dog who will thrive with obedience training and who loves a mental challenge. When she sets her mind to something (finding a hidden toy or solving a doggie puzzle, for example) she is determined and tenacious to the end! She knows the following commands: Out of here. Off now! Potty outside? Go inside. Thirsty? Hungry? Come! Get your toy! And she understands directional hand gestures. She likes to show off her toys, but she doesn't want them taken from her. She doesn't get mean--just very enthusiastic about the game "keep away." Although she is slow to warm to strangers, once she has developed trust (treats and patience help) she displays strong desire to be near her people. You’ll know you’ve arrived when she nudges your hand to be petted. She is very affectionate, loves belly rubs and will try to climb up and sleep on your lap. If that’s not possible, she will nap at your feet. Although she will go and sleep in her crate, if the door is closed, she barks and cries. She would much rather sleep on the bed with her people. Maisie will be a very loyal and loving dog to the right family!

Story
Boone has quite the life story. Boone went out on a home trial years ago when he suddenly became very ill. After veterinary examination, it was discovered that he had inhaled fungal spores from the soil, resulting in a serious fungal infection. Boone returned to our care and spent a long time receiving treatment. There were moments when we weren't sure he would pull through, but Boone proved just how resilient he is. Boone was also a participant in our former Camp K-9 program and quickly became a favorite of our Dog Team's Adoption Coordinator. In 2023, he found a home. Unfortunately, life circumstances have brought Boone back to us. His owner is relocating and was unable to find housing that would allow him to keep both Boone and his companion, Sammy. While Boone and Sammy get along wonderfully and could certainly be adopted together, Boone is also available to find a home of his own. Now 6 years old, Boone is entering his distinguished gentleman era. His ideal home includes a sunny spot for afternoon naps, a yard or walking path for sniffing adventures, and people who appreciate the simple joys of life. Boone has shown positive interest in other dogs through fences and glass barriers, and we can cat-test him upon request. We have not yet had the opportunity to evaluate him around children and will update his bio as we learn more. After everything he's been through, Boone deserves another, happier ending. If you'd like to meet this resilient, handsome gentleman, submit an application today!

Story
This is one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make because Tui is truly a wonderful dog. Our only goal is to find him the loving home he deserves. Tui is a purebred Black Mouth Cur that we brought home from a breeder in South Carolina. He was one of 12 puppies in his litter, and from the very beginning, he had a difficult start. We brought him home at 12 weeks old, and shortly afterward, a major snowstorm kept us homebound, preventing us from socializing him the way we had planned. Soon after that, he swallowed one of our son's Nerf balls and required emergency surgery. He spent the next six weeks recovering in a cone, which was another setback during such an important stage of his development. Despite those early challenges, Tui has grown into an incredibly smart, affectionate, loyal, and playful dog. He is fully house-trained, crate-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and has excellent recall off-leash. He loves to run, play, cuddle, and be with his people........
