Zola: protector & sensitive soul Rarely does a gorgeous mix of a dog with such a tender heart survive a history of neglect and abuse, yet emerge so loving, affectionate and dedicated to guarding her household. Zola is one such tale. She was found under a daycare, having given birth to a litter of puppies. Always stunning in looks as a black mouth cut/Dutch shepherd mix (our best guess), she was shut down, shy, wary of raised voices & reaching hands, but never, ever mean. In her foster mom’s home, she has gradually come out of her shell. She now loves being hugged on, petted, brushed. She oh, so gently takes treats. She is great with other dogs, but her favorites to cuddle with are similar to her in size. She is very gentle with children, and extremely emotionally intuitive. She takes “night patrol” duties seriously, having assigned herself the task of ensuring property safety before she settles indoors to sleep. Zola is ready & so deserves a loving furever home of her own. She will make an excellent addition to a family or as a solo dog. Elena is a dream girl!! She is likely a black mouth cur mix with sugar and spice and everything NICE :) She is extremely loyal and loves getting cuddles from her people. She likes to nose butt your arm for attention, and absolutely loves squeaky toys. She also will just stare at you with her gorgeous, soft eyes, and will you to scratch or kiss her :) She is house trained, crate trained, and good with other animals/children. Her foster has 6 dogs and 1 cat that she gets along with really well; however, it is worth mentioning that she can get territorial in a new environment with other dogs, so it would be best for her to go to an experienced dog home, or as an only dog. Honestly, she can be with other dogs as long as you are the boss and she knows it :) Elena knows how to sit, wait to eat her food until she is told to &"go ahead "She loves kids, and does well with even the littlest ones hugging on her. One of her favorite hobbies is to watch the squirrels in the backyard. She will sit and watch them for hours, if allowed to! Elena is such a good dog, and is ready for her furever home. Ginger is a long-eared beauty and is a 2 year old, 50 lb, bloodhound mix. She is a doll.    Ginger was a stray before going to the shelter and has been in her foster home for a week now. She is doing better now, but is still very very skittish and scared of most things - loud noise, cars, airplanes, new people, storms ...if it makes a sound, she is highly suspicious.   Ginger has come so far in her week here, but she will definitely need her new family to understand that she will need time to adjust and lots of patience and love to show her that the world is not such a scary place. She is not aggressive or snippy from fear, but will run/hide when she is overwhelmed. Due to this, she would do best with a fenced-in yard or walks in quiet areas with little to no car/foot traffic, as a busy streets would be stressful and overwhelming for her (at least at first).   We are working on housebreaking and she sleeps well in her crate. She is spayed, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines and heartworm/flea prevention. Ginger also loves our other dogs and would do well in a house where she has doggy playmate(s) to help show her the ropes.    The cutest thing about Ginger? The fact that her ears are so long, they get in her food bowl when shes eating. Girl needs a headband.   For now, Ginger will not be going to open adoption events but is available for meet and greets.
