Story
ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED!! Maybelle is a fan favorite amongst our volunteers and we are eager to find an adopter who recognizes that she's an absolute gem. This shorthaired mixed breed beauty is the color of a perfectly blended vanilla latte. She is a lively young girl probably 2-3 years old. Maybelle is fully grown at 38 pounds, her long legs make her look like a bigger dog. She's a playful pup, the perfect mix of intelligence, affection and athleticism. She loves to zoom around the yard playing with her toys and will happily entertain herself when her people are busy. She does enjoy "liberating" all toy squeakers. Maybelle bonds closely to her favorite people and loves to make new friends. She's so happy to go for rides in the car, especially with a pit stop for a pup cup. Did we mention she's whip smart? She knows Sit, Down and Shake and loves to learn new tricks. Maybelle would be fine as an only dog, soaking up all of the love and attention she can. If you'd like to meet Maybelle, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org.  We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Maybelle at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 11, 2025, 10:45 am

Story
Zelie’s past is a mystery, like so many dogs who find their way to rescue, but what we do know is that she’s a gentle, loving girl with a heart ready to bloom. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through. Zelie adores her person and will happily follow you everywhere — she might even step on the backs of your feet just to stay close! She would thrive in a calm, patient home that can help her continue building confidence, and she’d love a confident doggy friend to learn from. She is crate trained and often uses her crate when things get a bit too busy. Zelie is good with other dogs and is just now learning how to be a dog herself — playing, exploring, and enjoying the fun of having canine friends. She’s also good with cats; she’s curious but respectful and leaves them alone. Zelie is looking for a family who will continue to help her grow, gain confidence, and discover the joy of being a beloved dog. She’s ready to find her forever. Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Howdy! My name Is Zayit, pronounced Za-yeet, which means olive. I looked kind of small when I was first found but I have grown up to be a big gal, and I mean fast! I was found dumped, scared, and alone. The kind woman who found me took me to God’s Dogs Rescue ASAP. I was covered in fleas and ticks, had worms and was rather thin! But GDR cleaned me up, fed me, gave me medicine for my tummy and to keep those pesky fleas and ticks away! I looked small at the time, so small they thought I was a chihuahua! My foster mom saw me and said “NO WAY! Chihuahua? This girl looks like a BLACK MOUTH CUR!” Do you know what that means? That means I will probably grow up to be a larger gal, maybe 60 pounds, and an active one! Daily exercise and learning tricks at minimum will keep me busy because hunters and herders are what my ancestors were known to be! So here I am, growing by the day, eating super well and playing a lot with my new friend, Sariya. She is also my foster fur-sister, who is teaching me how to be a doggoe. We love rough housing! And she is teaching me how to play tug-of-war with her toys, but on her terms. I sleep snuggly in a big girl crate, or what my foster mama refers to as my “night-night”. It’s my safe space, my dining space, my sleeping space, my over-all private space. Sometimes I do have sleepovers on the big bed with my foster mom. I can be a bit shy, perhaps some will refer to me as apprehensive. When you walk towards me or try to pick me up I might run and hide, like in my night-night. Give me some time and I will warm up to you! When I was smaller my foster mama would scoop me up and we would sit together on her fuzzy chair. My foster brother scoops me up too and tries to nap with me. I like meeting other dogs and behaved pretty well with cats while I was on leash! Time and patience and lots of socializing folks, that’s all I need and I will luv you fur-ever.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Thanks to a generous grant from the Robert H. Reakirt Foundation, my adoption fee is partially sponsored! My new family can take me home for $125. Meet Copper! Copper is a 7.5-year-old, 65lb redbone coonhound mix who loves squeaky toys, long walks, and cuddling on the couch. There’s so many reasons to love Copper, let us tell you about them! This handsome man is potty trained, crate trained (goes in when asked & rests quietly till you return) and knows commands. Copper's ideal match would be a family who would play fetch and take him on regular walks, let him plop next to them for belly rubs & cuddles and would spoil him with toys and kongs! Copper would thrive in a home with a yard where he can play and explore. He’s not like your typical hound- sniffing isn’t his main focus and he quickly comes when called! He’s also a controlled barker, only letting out a howl when he’s got something real important to share! Not to mention- he loves other dogs, big and small! This adorable goofball is looking for his furever family, maybe that could be you! Copper is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $125.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
