My sweet boy, Shrek. I hate to give him up, but I unfortunately don’t have a choice. He is such a lovey dog that is great around kids. He loves lounging around and snuggling. Sadly, he is also an escape artist and I have chased him around the neighborhood several times to bring him home. He loves to play with other dogs, but it often gets taken too far and turns into a skirmish. Last time he got out, he got tangled up with another dog and it was extremely difficult to separate them. I just cannot live with the risk of him accidentally harming another person or child when he gets out. He would never intentionally attack somebody, but if somebody gets caught in the middle, they could be seriously hurt. We rescued him when he was 2, and he is now 9. I’m looking for someone who is able to give him a good few years to the end of his life because I am not prepared to have him put down.

For weeks, he was spotted wandering the neighborhood, visiting backyard dogs through the fence and even curling up beside them for company. When he started growing skinny and limping, it was clear he needed help. One day, Stubby followed his rescuer for two blocks all the way home—no leash needed, just trust and hope. Though a stray cat chased him off that first night, he came hobbling back the next morning, wagging his little stubby tail and ready for breakfast. Stubby is a very social, happy boy whose tail never stops wagging. He’s great with other dogs, barks at cats but doesn’t chase, and even wags his stubby tail at kids at events. This lovable, resilient boy is ready to find his forever family who will give him the love he’s been waiting for. She’s playful, smart, and loves toys, especially squeaky ones! Fetch, sticks, and branches are her favorites, and she absolutely loves to splash and play in water. She’s crate trained and about 90% housebroken, getting better every day. Astrid enjoys her “me time” in her crate but also loves cuddling and sleeping in bed with her people. Once she’s cozy, she stays put all night and is usually the last one up in the morning . She’s affectionate, loves praise, and even though she’s getting big, she still wants to be held like a baby! Howdy! My name Is Zayit, pronounced Za-yeet, which means olive. I might look kind of small now but I am going to grow up to be a big gal, and I mean fast! I was found dumped, scared, and alone. The kind woman who found me took me to God’s Dogs Rescue ASAP. I was covered in fleas and ticks, had worms and was rather thin! But GDR cleaned me up, fed me, gave me medicine for my tummy and to keep those pesky fleas and ticks away! Funny thing is, because I looked small at the time, they thought I was a chihuahua! My foster mom saw me and said “NO WAY! Chihuahua?” Now she tells everyone “This girl looks like a BLACK MOUTH CUR!” Do you know what that means? That means I will probably grow up to be a larger gal, maybe 60 pounds, and an active one! Daily exercise and learning tricks at minimum will keep me busy because hunters and herders are what my ancestors were known to be! And so here I am, growing by the day, eating super well and playing a lot with my new friend, Sariya. She is also my foster fur-sista, who is teaching me how to be a doggoe. We love rough housing! And she is teaching me how to play tug-of-war with her toys, but on her terms. I sleep snuggly in a big girl crate, or what my foster mama refers to as my “night-night”. It’s my safe space, my dining space, my sleeping space, my over-all private space. I am a bit shy, perhaps some will refer to me as apprehensive. When you walk towards me or try to pick me up, I might run and hide, like in my night-night. Sometimes my foster mama scoops me up and we sit together on her fuzzy chair. I am safe there too. Other times my foster brother scoops me up and tries to nap with me. I feel safe there too. Time and patience and lots of socializing folks, that’s all I need and I will luv you fur-ever. He and his sister Wednesday were found by some caring people before their eyes were even open, they saved their lives and raised them until they could find help. We were happy to take them into our rescue and they are excellent puppies who will make great companions to any family. Pugsley is so sweet although he is a little slow to warm up to men. He would do best in a house with a confident dog to teach him the lay of the land, as he does depend on his sister and foster dog brother. Pugsley loves to snuggle and spend time with his humans!
