Story
HENRY is a younger adult Cur mix of some sort. He's just under 50 lbs and fully vetted. He's a friendly guy and good with other dogs so far, and can be playful, as well. He can be a somewhat exuberant and rough player with other dogs, but not in an extreme way/ He enjoys walks and is good on a leash. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
Van is a loving and affectionate pup, ready for a forever family. He was born into foster care with his siblings. Their mom, Hazel, was rescued while heavily pregnant and a volunteer brought her inside just in time to have her babies. They are healthy and happy and momma is doing great too. These puppies are friendly and well-socialized, as they've lived inside with people their whole lives. They are good with other dogs. We don't know about cats yet, but we predict they would do just fine if they grow up with a cat. As of April they are 9 weeks old. We would love to talk to you more about them on the phone. Please send us an application and we'll give you a call! Here's the link: www.friendsfurliferescue.org/adoption-application Please copy/paste the above link into your browser ^ Our transport can take this pup to a town near you. (YES we also adopt to Canada! Please note: adoption fee is in US dollars.) There is NO transport fee, or any extra fees. All is included in the adoption fee. Thank you! We're looking forward to your inquiry!

Story
Meet Stuart A dapper gentleman with a big heart, excellent manners, and the kind of calm confidence you can’t help but love. Stuart at a GlanceEstimated age: ~5 yearsSize: ~60 lbsBreed: Curr mixHealth: Neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and on flea & tick prevention Manners: Knows “sit” like a pro PersonalityStuart is friendly with humans and other dogs, and he’s the perfect mix of playful + laid-back. He enjoys playing, but never in an obnoxious, nonstop way—more like a little fun, then back to lounging like the gentleman he is.He’s also a big fan of food (who isn’t?), so he’ll need a family that can monitor treats and portions—he’s getting a tiny bit chunky and will happily accept snack donations if allowed. Dog-to-Dog StyleStuart gets along great with dog friends. If another dog gets a little too rowdy, he may correct them, but he does it gently and appropriately—like a wise 5-year-old who’s simply saying, “Relax, kid.”Cuddle CredentialsWhen the day winds down, Stuart’s favorite place is snuggled up in bed with his person. He’s affectionate, sweet, and makes a house feel like home. His StoryStuart came in as a stray about two months ago, and he’s been nothing but a kind, loving soul since. Now he’s ready for his forever family—one that appreciates a well-mannered companion with a soft spot for snacks and snuggles. If you want a handsome, balanced, gentle dog who plays nicely, corrects politely, and cuddles like a champ—Stuart is your guy.  If you would like to have Stuart join your family please fill out an adoption application.  His $300 adoption fee includes medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NT. ##2612642##

Story
Oh my gosh do we have a treat for you!  Anyone that spends time looking at our website for our beautiful adoptable dogs might remember our exquisite Fairy Dust!  Fairy Dust found her furever home and now her equally handsome brother, Victor, is with us in the rescue. Victor is 9 months old and is tall and very lanky weighing in at 31 lbs. His legs go on forever! He is proving to be growing very tall and very fast!  Because he is growing so fast, it has been a chore for his foster Mom to keep him at a good weight.  Victor loves mealtimes and is very food motivated.  He loves his food so much that we think it is best to feed Victor separate from other dogs.  In the alternative, you could opt to stay right with him while he eats placing him far enough away from other dogs .  Victor has been known to leave his own food bowl and try to go eat his sister's food even though he still has food in his bowl!  He can be a bit of a stinker at feeding time if his sister is nearby!   Victor is a big cuddle bug who loves to crawl up on the couch to lay in your lap! He has no problem taking advantage of as much attention as you are willing to give. Victor does occasionally like to play a game of fetch!  He is still a puppy so he does need patience, structure and lots of love.  Victor walks well on a leash and is great with kids and adults alike.  When he is in his crate, he will bark if strangers come in the house but when out of the crate, he is fine.  He will also bark at his foster Mom's cat when he is in his crate but once outside, he is fine with the cat too.  He enjoys toys but the plushies share a horrific fate with this boy!   In August, 2025, Seventh Heaven was able to save Victor from a fate no dog wants to find itself in...that being on a euthanasia list.  His foster Mom doesn't think at this time that Victor would be able to be in a crate for eight hours a day.  He would do best in a home where someone was around to keep his potty training on track and to guide him through the "puppy phase."  An active family would be perfect for Victor! If you think that Victor would be a perfect addition to your family, please take a moment to complete an adoption application for him.  His adoption fee of $500.00 covers medical care up to adoption, neutering, microchipping, foster care and transportation to New York.  Victor, like all of our amazing dogs in the rescue, are so deserving of a new start in life to make up for the adversity they have faced.  It is Victor's turn now! ##2559080##

Story
Meet Gunner! At 13.2 lbs, Gunner is a sweet, loving boy who’s ready to find his forever family through Seventh Heaven Rescue. He is up to date on all vaccines and preventions, making him all set to start his next adventure!  His birthday is estimated to be April 22, 2025. Gunner has a gentle, affectionate nature — he loves cuddles and soaks up attention from his people. Though he can be a little shy at times, he quickly warms up and shows his playful side, especially when he’s outside with toys or hanging with the big dogs (he loves being part of the action!). This sweet boy is currently working on crate and leash training and will thrive with a family ready to continue his puppy learning journey. Gunner’s story began in Oakdale, Louisiana, where he and his mama, Bonnie, were found abandoned in a house with his siblings. Despite his tough start, Gunner has blossomed into a loving, loyal pup who’s eager to share his heart with a family of his own. If you’re looking for a gentle, snuggly companion with just the right amount of playfulness, Gunner is your guy and has arrived in NY.  If you would like to have Gunner join your family please fill out an adoption application, he is a typical puppy that will need guidance and training.  His $550 adoption fee will cover medical care up to adoption to include vaccines/neuter/microchip, foster care and transportation to NY . ##2417597##

Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Benny! He has been sponsored so has a reduced adoption fee. All vet care is done and current. This beautiful baby is looking for his furever home! He is 80 lbs. born 12/27/2020 and is SUCH a love bug He loves to give kisses, get scratches, go on brisk walks/hikes, is very obedient, and knows his commands (very well once you stimulate him enough). He is high energy and does amazing with long lead strolls, constructive loose leash walks, and working on his commands. Benny is doing ok with cats, although at this time we wouldn't recommend a home with them. I am currently helping him understand the boundaries associated with other animals; he is excitable, curious, playful, but also quite nervous and reserved. It is clear humans have not always had a kind hand with him, but he is quickly learning to trust and let go of that. His experiences with cats and dogs were very limited before coming into rescue. He is all puppy and just wants to play, though doesn’t know boundaries and isn’t experienced. If the animal shows signs of correcting him or reacts, he overreacts out of fear and can easily make a mistake. Again, he is learning the rules very quickly and beginning to respect boundaries as a whole, but will need someone who will continue teaching him! Benny would do best in a home without other animals, however he could do well depending on personality, temperament, and owner experience. If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with dewormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 mths or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/New2Urescue. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents. We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit.
