Story
Dani is about 1.5 years old. She loves walks, treats and snuggling on the couch. She can't get enough belly rubs. She is smart and motivated to learn. She is very attentive to her owner and very responsive to praise. I think she would do really well with someone who is dedicated to giving her regular exercise, structure and routine. I adopted her in August and am finding that my life is too busy to provide her with the latter two. While she loves every person she meets, she is not comfortable with other dogs. She was quite dog aggressive when I first got her. We have been working on this and she has improved quite a bit, but will need the new owner to continue working with her. We can go for walks now and pass other dogs without incident. All I get from her now is some whining and a desire to walk more quickly past the other dog. Overall, she is a loving, affectionate dog and would make a lucky new owner a great companion.

Hi, I’m Scout! I’m a very outgoing boy with lots of energy and a big personality to match. I love being active, having fun, and being part of the action. If you’re looking for a dog who’s always ready for the next adventure, I might be your guy! I was raised with multiple dogs, so I’m used to having canine friends around and enjoy their company. Whether it’s playtime, exploring, or learning new things, I’m excited to do it all with a family of my own. If I have a committed adopter and/or foster, I can be transported to Petco in Huntersville to meet my future family on January 15th, 2026. Rickie Bobby is a one-year-old goofball with a name as silly as his personality, but he didn’t start out that way. When he first arrived at HCAS, he was absolutely terrified of everything: people, his kennel, sounds, the floor, and especially doorways. It took hours that turned into days of simply sitting nearby before Ricky Bobby was brave enough to let anyone touch him.Then came the leash. Step by tiny step, inch by inch, he started to trust that good things could happen outside his kennel. First being petted. Then allowing a leash to be clipped on. Then walking a few inches away from his “safe zone” before scurrying back. Each small victory may not seem like much from the outside, but for Ricky Bobby, they were huge milestones in learning that the world isn’t so scary.Now this silly boy actually looks forward to being leashed up and heading outside. He’s started letting several volunteers walk him, and you can almost see his confidence grow with every positive experience. New people and new situations can still be scary, and he may always be a dog who needs time to warm up, but he is learning that life can be fun, safe, and full of joy.Rickie Bobby is looking for a special person who sees how far he has come and is willing to keep cheering him on. He needs someone patient and gentle, who will celebrate the little steps, move at his pace, and help him continue to feel safe and brave. We managed to connect with one of her previous owners, who told us she had been rehomed recently. Sadly, we weren’t able to reach her most recent family, so now Bailey is searching for her forever home.Bailey is truly all smiles (she really does smile!), even though she’s naturally a bit shy and submissive. When she met another dog here at the shelter, Bailey was very tolerant—letting her new friend sniff and jump around her—but she preferred gentle exploring over rough-and-tumble play.We’re still getting to know this beautiful girl, but we already suspect she’ll be an amazing cuddle buddy with a tender, loving nature.
