He’s curious why cats don’t play like dogs, but gets along with them once he warms up. He has not been tested with children yet. 👂 Special Needs: None ✂️ Grooming: Low maintenance 🐾 Training: Fully potty trained, knows “sit” and “come here,” and is kennel trained. 🐾🦴 Meet Boone: The Frisky Coonhound with an Overflowing Heart of Affection 💙 This spunky boy is smart, silly, and absolutely knows how to use his handsome charm to try and get his way. Boone is learning quickly and is searching for a pack to call his own. This boy will become like your shadow, but with his own requirements. Boone will tell you all about how much he wants to meet new friends (people & dog) to wrestle with, leaning in for pets, and love. 🥰 🌟 Name: Boone 🎂 Age: Approximately 4 years old 🐶 Breed: Black & Tan Coonhound 🥌 Weight: 65 lbs 💉 Vaccination Status: Boone is up to date on his annual vaccines through April 2027, helping ensure his continued health and well-being. 💊❤️‍🩹 Current Medical Needs: Boone is finishing up the last of his heartworm treatment. We are hoping his restrictions with come off with his retest check 9/8. He will then begin his short journey back to being the full adventurous hound he is. 🏡 Ideal Home: Boone is looking for a patient, structured home with a fenced yard where he can safely sniff, explore, and continue learning. He would love a playful canine companion who enjoys some wrestling and goofy hound antics but can also help teach him boundaries and manners. According to Boone, humans should also be willing to provide nonstop attention, unlimited affection and a nightly chew. 😂 In reality, Boone would thrive best with a family that can provide consistency as he expects routine once he learns it. He would especially love a home with people who enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the wonderfully dramatic baying commentary only a hound can provide. 😎 🐕 Compatibility: Boone does well with other dogs. Due to his size and bouncy energy, small children should still be supervised around him, though he has a soft and affectionate nature. Cats are currently unknown and may be questionable due to prey drive instincts. ✂️ Grooming: Boone has minimal coat maintenance needs. As a hound he may need frequent baths. Regular ear cleaning will also be important. 🐾 Training: Boone has learned the basics of indoor living, but still loves to see and be outside. He catches on quickly with consistency. He has already mastered sit, and for treats will down, spin, improving at shake and target. His potty training has been good at his current fosters, but may need reminders when switching homes. Boone loves working for food mastering a few puzzles and enrichment games. He does well walking on his 2hounds harness but still can use some guidance with leash manners. He continues to work on what is all appropriate & when other dogs need breaks from play. He is kennel trained but still likes to contest it at first.
