Story
Barkley is a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix who is smart, loyal, goofy, and absolutely loves his people. He bonds closely and thrives when he has structure and a confident owner to guide him. Because he is a high-drive herding breed and still an intact male, Barkley has become territorial around other dogs and needs to be placed as an only dog in the home or a home with a female dog. He would do best with an experienced dog owner who understands working breeds and can give him routine, direction, and exercise. Barkley is sweet, affectionate, and eager to please in the right environment, he just hasn’t been the right fit in our multi-dog household, and we want to set him up for success. He is still young and incredibly capable of learning with the right leadership. We are looking for a calm, home where he can relax, feel secure, and be someone’s best friend.

Story
Dash is an 8-year-old Blue Heeler mix with excellent leash manners and a calm, thoughtful personality. He’s very comfortable around women and may take a little time to warm up to men, but once he does, he’s a loyal and affectionate companion. He’s fully housetrained and will politely scratch at the door when he needs to go outside. Dash enjoys the simple comforts in life: sleeping in bed under a cozy blanket, lounging by the window, and keeping a close (and admittedly nosy) eye on the world outside.Dash can be nervous around baseball caps and power tools, so a patient, understanding home will help him feel his best. In return, you’ll get a sweet, well-mannered dog who loves routine, comfort, and being near his people.

Story
Meet Ned Ned is an approximately 10-month-old pup weighing around 25 pounds. He’s a sweet, thoughtful boy who’s more motivated by praise and connection than food, though he takes treats and bones very gently. Ned shows affection enthusiastically and is still learning appropriate manners—he can sometimes use his mouth a bit too much when excited—but he responds well to correction and is already making great progress. He’s a dream on a leash, calmly greeting both people and other dogs, and he’s an excellent car rider. Ned is the kind of dog who would love to go everywhere with you. He gets along well with his foster’s large dog and shows polite curiosity toward the cat—attempting to play but without chasing or prey drive. His favorite spot in the world? Right on your lap. While he hasn’t been formally kid-tested yet, he greeted a neighbor’s toddler gently and calmly. Ned sleeps quietly through the night in his crate and is quick to pick up potty routines. He would do well in many types of homes, as long as he gets regular exercise, mental stimulation, and a yard to burn off his zoomies. Curious, confident, and not fearful, Ned would make a wonderful companion for someone who wants a loyal buddy by their side as much as possible.Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
