Story
Meet Nova.  We were told Nova's dad was in the military and deployed, leaving three Dobermans with no where to go. The boys found safety, but the person who was going to take her, planned to breed her asap. As soon as we found out about the situation we knew we needed to help.  Nova is now safe with us. It’s so sad because her world has been turned upside down and if you know the breed - you know how sensitive they are. We saw a picture of her laying in the sunshine tucked against her brothers, and out of nowhere it all changed. This big baby is about as tender hearted as they come. Dobermans are often referred to as “dogs with the human mind” because they are to intune to what owners are feeling too. Needless to say this has been a lot for her. Nova is 1.5-2 years old and 80 pounds.  Nova needs a dobie loving home where she can thrive and be cherished. She’s been great with all the dogs she’s met thus far and loves kids! For more info please contact us asap! Please share with any Doberman lovers you know as well. We all thank you for helping us make these happily ever after s happen. Email adrienne@rescuemega.org PLEASE NOTE: Previous firsthand ownership experience with purebred Dobermans is a strict requirement to adopt Nova ##1703116##

Story
Meet Pop Tart! This gorgeous girl had a rough start with AARF. After spending nearly a month at animal control, she was attacked by her kennel mates at the shelter. Her injuries needed immediate vet care, and she spent the first 2 weeks of her time out of animal control at the vet's office. After battling a bad case of kennel cough and a long recovery from her injuries, Pop Tart is now happy and healthy and ready to find her forever home. Our best guess is that she is a red Doberman / pit bull mix, which means she is incredibly athletic, sweet and snuggly and very loyal. Pop Tart seems to be a little too interested in cats and other small critters, so would do best in a home without small furry friends. She needs an active family, one that up for daily playtime and some adventures! Pop Tart is completely house and crate trained and already knows 'sit' and 'shake'. She loves to play, but also enjoys a good snuggle on the couch in the evening. If you think Pop Tart would be a good fit for your family, fill out an application today! Pop Tart has Paw Pals: Terry and Jean K of Atlanta, GA!April 18, 2024, 12:46 pm

Story
Please contact ADOPTION (adopt@doggieharmony.org) for more information about this pet.Meet Mijo, the handsome pup with plenty of spunk despite his nearly senior status! He's a total ball-chasing pro and will do anything to impress his new family.  Mijo's recent stay at the vet turned out to be a blessing in disguise - not only did he recover quickly, but the staff fell in love with him and decided to help find him a forever home. They suspect his tummy troubles were due to some anxiety and diet issues in his previous home, but with the proper love, care, and a stable home, he'll be feeling like a million bucks in no time. So what do you say? Are you ready to add some extra love and laughter to your home with this sweet old gentleman? Mijo promises to be the life of the party and will happily accept all the belly rubs and snuggles you can give him. See more pics of Mr. Handsome Mijo here: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B18GOnmqtGF3YZc Age: 8-9 yrs Weight: 60-65 lbs Temperament: Gets along with people; will be dog/cat testing soon!  Training: Housetrained (lived in a home/keeps kennel clean), knows basics Vetting: Spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative Email for questions: Katie at kbstine@emory.edu     To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $300; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.April 18, 2024, 12:25 pm

Story
I found Otis on the side of the road just outside of South Padre Island, Texas. I was there on vacation so I had to drop him off at a shelter. He was so sweet and surprisingly trusting for a spray so I ended up going back to get him a week later. Since I am a college student, I don’t have the time or resources to care for him and want him to go to a home that is able to give him everything he needs and deserves. The vets estimate Otis is about a year old. He appears to be some sort of Doberman/German Shepherd mix, but we don’t know for sure. He is up to date on all his vaccines but is currently underweight. He is only 40 pounds. Otis is an incredibly sweet, smart, and loving dog. He is still scared of certain things which is to be expected with a stray, but he has already started making so many strides. He loves going on walks and being with people. The main reason I want to rehome him is simply because I can’t provide the time, money, and resources he deserves.

Story
We pulled this boy off the table of death with just hours to spare as we were told he's the bestest boy ! And he truly is. Just because he's not a doodle or a fluffy or a scruffy or a puppy, doesn't mean he had to die. We know he is special. Harpo is 1.5 yrs old and a friendly boy. At 58lbs and with such beautiful coloring, he's lucky to breathe fresh air thanks to Hero ! He is people & dog friendly and wants to be someone's loyal companion. He will be an even luckier pup if YOU are his forever home. Come out and meet Harpo - one of the lucky ones. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
