Story
Barkley is a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix who is smart, loyal, goofy, and absolutely loves his people. He bonds closely and thrives when he has structure and a confident owner to guide him. Because he is a high-drive herding breed and still an intact male, Barkley has become territorial around other dogs and needs to be placed as an only dog in the home or a home with a female dog. He would do best with an experienced dog owner who understands working breeds and can give him routine, direction, and exercise. Barkley is sweet, affectionate, and eager to please in the right environment, he just hasn’t been the right fit in our multi-dog household, and we want to set him up for success. He is still young and incredibly capable of learning with the right leadership. We are looking for a calm, home where he can relax, feel secure, and be someone’s best friend.

Story
Interview with Dash:Interviewer: How did you arrive to the Animal Shelter? Dash: Well, I was walking down the street looking for leftover Thanksgiving scraps when I noticed that someone pulled their vehicle over to the side of the road. I assumed they had some scraps for me, so I walked up to them and jumped into their vehicle and guess what, no scraps, how rude!!!! The man who picked me up told me that he didn’t want me to get hurt and took me to the Animal Shelter. Interviewer: Did you like being at the Animal Shelter? Dash: At first no, because there were a lot of rowdy dogs in the area I was staying at. It scared me a bit and I just stayed to myself, but then one day I went out for a walk and they put me in the Administrative Supervisors office, which was awesome. I went from a small apartment to a condo! A big upgrade. Interviewer: What has changed since you arrived at the Animal Shelter?Dash: A lot has changed! When I arrived at the Shelter, I was heartworm positive. I went into a foster home while going through my treatment. Thankfully, my treatment has been completed and starting March 15th, I can return to my normal activities, like playing fetch with a tennis ball and going for long walks! I cannot wait, I’m so excited for this day to arrive. Also, my foster parent wanted to adopt me, which I was super excited about because she has been one of the best foster parents that any dog could ask for, but unfortunately with inflation and being on a limited income, she cannot adopt me. But that’s okay because my forever family is out there, I just know it.Interviewer: What do you look for in a family?Dash: Okay, I am going to be a little picky here. I am a woman’s man, but if the woman I adore has a man in her home, I’ll be okay with that ONLY under these circumstances: 1) Men like to wear these weird things on their heads that scare me sometimes. My foster parent told me those are called “hats”. Not sure what they do, but they sure do scare me and prefer they not be worn when I’m around. 2)No loud power tools in my presence. Those things scare me too.Other than those 2 circumstances, I should be perfectly fine with a male in the home. What will not work for me is children. They scare me as well. Anytime I get scared, I tend to nip at their shoes. I guess it’s the Heeler in me that makes me do that. I am not a fan of cats and I have never met a dog before, so I`m not sure how I`d do with them.Inter

Story
Meet Ned Ned is an approximately 10-month-old pup weighing around 25 pounds. He’s a sweet, thoughtful boy who’s more motivated by praise and connection than food, though he takes treats and bones very gently. Ned shows affection enthusiastically and is still learning appropriate manners—he can sometimes use his mouth a bit too much when excited—but he responds well to correction and is already making great progress. He’s a dream on a leash, calmly greeting both people and other dogs, and he’s an excellent car rider. Ned is the kind of dog who would love to go everywhere with you. He gets along well with his foster’s large dog and shows polite curiosity toward the cat—attempting to play but without chasing or prey drive. His favorite spot in the world? Right on your lap. While he hasn’t been formally kid-tested yet, he greeted a neighbor’s toddler gently and calmly. Ned sleeps quietly through the night in his crate and is quick to pick up potty routines. He would do well in many types of homes, as long as he gets regular exercise, mental stimulation, and a yard to burn off his zoomies. Curious, confident, and not fearful, Ned would make a wonderful companion for someone who wants a loyal buddy by their side as much as possible.Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Yeti is a 4-month-old cattle dog mix who was rescued from an overcrowded animal shelter and is now ready for a fresh start. He has all the bright potential this breed is known for. Cattle dogs are smart, active, and loyal, and Yeti is no exception. He is highly intelligent and is already working on and excelling in basic commands like “sit” and “down.” He is continuing to learn good manners and will benefit from a home committed to ongoing training, structure, and positive reinforcement to help him grow into his best self. Yeti will thrive with daily exercise, mental enrichment, and consistent guidance. Walks, playtime, puzzle toys, and learning new skills will help keep his mind and body busy. An active home that enjoys engaging with their dog would be ideal. Because of his herding breed instincts and normal puppy teething behaviors, Yeti would do best in a home without young children. He is a curious, growing puppy with so much love to give and is ready to become a devoted companion in the right home. Yeti est. birth date is 08/16/2025 and has been neutered, microchipped and given all age appropriate vaccines and preventions. Yeti have an adoption fee of $510. Puppies require a lot of time and commitment. Please make sure your schedule can accommodate a puppy as they will be a member of your family for the next 10 to 15 years. If you want to know more about the Yeti, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. At this time, meeting our dogs is by appointment only. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. Must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.

Story
Hi, I’m Cocoa Puff!I’m a 2-year-old Heeler/Chihuahua mix with a big heart and a love for being close to my people. I’m a sweet, friendly girl with a nice medium energy level — happy to play, but just as happy to soak up affection. One of my favorite things is climbing into laps to roll around and collect pets and kisses. I also love playing ball and already have some great manners — I’ll drop the ball, sit, and patiently wait for it to be thrown again! I walk well on a leash and know sit, and I enjoy having structure and clear communication. When it comes to other dogs, I can be selective. I prefer calm, respectful canine companions and don’t enjoy high-energy puppies that get in my space, which is very true to my breed mix. With the right match and proper introductions, I can do well.If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys both playtime and cuddle time, I might be your perfect girl! Currently, I am available for adoption. If you`re interested in adopting me, please fill out an application online or call the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11-5 or Friday and Saturday 1-5. All of my love and kisses, Cocoa Puff /(^.^)\",AVAILABLE"

Story
**Home for the Holidays adoption special.  Half price adoption fee through December 31st     Smart, spirited, and full of heart - Levi Ahoy is a handsome cattle dog mix looking for his perfect match!   Levi is the kind of dog who wins you over with his quick mind and big, expressive eyes. He’s eager to learn, super responsive to training, and loves having a job to do. If you enjoy outdoor adventures, brain games, or a good game of fetch, Levi will be right there beside you, tail wagging and ready to go.   Levi loves his people deeply, but can feel stressed if he’s cornered or if his boundaries aren’t respected. He thrives in a calm, understanding home where he’s given space to warm up at his own pace. For that reason, he’s looking for an adult-only home (no young kids, please). The great news is, Levi is wonderful about communicating when he’s uncomfortable and is easily called away or redirected. He really wants to get it right and listens beautifully once he trusts you.   He’s likely housebroken, enjoys being outdoors, and has plenty of energy for walks, hikes, or backyard zoomies. He’s also got a sensitive side. Levi can be a bit picky with food, but when it comes to playtime and affection, he’s all in.   Levi Ahoy is ready to find someone who appreciates his smarts, respects his space, and loves him for the amazing, loyal companion he is. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and fill your life with adventure, Levi might just be your guy. An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Story
A foster-to-adopt option is available for Axel, giving you the chance to get to know each other before making it official! Axel is a 2.5-year-old Aussiedoodle weighing 57 pounds of sweet, affectionate goodness. This handsome boy loves being with his people, running freely in a big backyard, and always coming when called. He’s gentle taking treats and already knows sit and down, with a great understanding of wait at doorways and his kennel. Even without formal training, Axel is a fast learner and eager to please. He walks nicely on a leash, enjoys going for walks (and likely a good run), and is working hard on polite greetings, making great progress every day. His previous owner shared that he is housebroken, which is a big bonus! Axel has done well meeting another dog at the shelter, and we’re continuing to test him with smaller dogs. Because he doesn’t quite realize how big he is, Axel would do best with older children who can appreciate his size and enthusiasm. Affectionate, smart, and ready for a loving home with structure and routine, Axel is truly a showstopper. Come meet this amazing boy! Axel currently weighs about 56lbs., is approximately 2 years old (est. birth date 06/08/2025), and his adoption fee is $510. Axel has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Axel, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. Story
I AM CURRENTLY IN FOSTER!Hi, I’m Orpheus — but my foster family calls me Opie.I’m a very sweet, good-natured boy who’s been through more than my heart should have had to handle. I’m fully housebroken, I absolutely love other dogs, and I’m learning — slowly but surely — that the world doesn’t have to be such a scary place.I am extremely fearful, and that fear is deeply imprinted from earlier experiences in my life. New people, unfamiliar environments, loud noises, and too much stimulation can be overwhelming for me. Building trust with me takes time, patience, and a calm presence. I don’t do well with being rushed, talked at, or “love-bombed” — for me, comfort comes from quiet energy, predictable routines, and respectful body language. When trust does begin to form, that’s where the magic happens. After two months in foster care, I’ve started seeking out affection on my own terms and have even begun snuggling on the couch with my foster mom. Those moments are incredibly special because they’re earned — and they mean everything.I would thrive in a home with space, including a dedicated area where I can feel safe and decompress. Having at least one confident, friendly dog in the home is very important for me — other dogs help me feel secure and act as a bridge between me and the human world.I’m not the kind of dog who will greet you at the door right away — but for the right person, willing to move at my pace and let trust grow naturally, I will be a deeply rewarding companion. If you believe in quiet progress, patience, and the beauty of watching a fearful dog learn to feel safe, I may be the one you’ve been waiting for.Currently, I am available for adoption. If you`re interested in adopting me, please fill out an application online or call the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11-5 or Friday and Saturday 1-5. All of my love and kisses, Orpheus /(^.^)\",AVAILABLE"
