Blue is a boisterous and energetic hound who loves to explore and sniff all there is to smell. He is affectionate when he works out the energy. He will be happiest with a big fenced-in yard to run around and lots of long walks. He has the hound vocalization, and his baying sounds a lot like the wrestler Rick Flair if you remember him from back in the day. Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “I don’t really need another dog… but my dog needs a friend”? Gomez might just be your guy. Or maybe you’ve thought, “I could use a project… something that teaches patience and feels really rewarding.” Gomez would be perfect for that, too. Since arriving at HSOC last October, Gomez has been taking his time figuring out the world. But thanks to an incredible foster home (with his old shelter buddy Grover!), we’re finally seeing him start to bloom. And it’s been well worth the wait. He’s learning that people can be kind, pets can feel good, and snuggles with other dogs are the best thing ever. He’s even started giving little kisses, yes, kisses! Gomez is still a sensitive guy, so his ideal forever home will understand that trust takes time and he may never be the "golden" dog. Here’s what will help him thrive: -A patient human who isn’t expecting instant cuddles or a “perfect” dog right away -A quieter home, or one with older/respectful kids -Bonus points: a confident dog (or two, or three!) for Gomez to follow and learn from. Gomez doesn’t need perfection, he just needs someone willing to meet him where he is and cheer him on as he grows. And we promise, those small wins? They’re everything.
