Story
Duke is a purebred Bluetick Coonhound. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old and he is now about 2.5 years old. We recently had a baby and we have been trying to make it work with Duke and the new baby but it has proved to be do difficult and we aren't able to give Duke the attention he requires to exhaust his energy or remain diligent with his training. He is an incredibly intelligent dog, and can learn very quickly. He LOVES to be part of our family and will thrive where he can be part of the "pack". He knows several commands like sit, place, and heel. We walks well on the leash but will occasionally bark at passersby or try to chase a squirrel or a fox. He has a very high prey drive and will not be suitable for a house with cats or other small animals. If you know about Coonhounds they can be loud. He has a very loud bark and will use his voice to alert us to the mailman daily. He can also be quite scared of the unknown and enjoys the comfort of a familiar home.

Meet Douglas — our 72-lb Gentle Giant with a Baby’s Heart Douglas is estimated to be about 1.5–2 years old, and he’s every bit the sweetheart his soft eyes promise. He gets along wonderfully with all dogs, carries himself with calm confidence, and melts the moment you give him attention. This big boy loves nothing more than resting his head on your chest like an oversized baby who just wants to feel close. He listens beautifully, learns quickly, and is already well on his way with potty training. He’s also fully crate trained — he settles in quietly and sleeps through the night without a peep. Douglas is loyal, loving, and ready for a home where he can be someone’s big shadow and best friend. Whoever adopts him will be getting a treasure. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans.   If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treewalker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before.
