Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! I'm Asher! Handsome me ended up in the shelter all by myself. Unbelievable! Absolutely terrifying! I was the few fortunate ones that ended up in a foster home and guess what? I met my best friend.... even if she is a girl! Her name is Sunflower but she goes by Sunny. You won't see us without one another. I'm super playful and outgoing. I wouldn't hurt a soul. I'm a daring. Sunny loves to cuddle and sleep. She's very calm and only plays with me when she's in the mood! Oh, well. I still love her. We would love to be adopted together. We do well with other kitties and dogs too! Don't pass us by! Love,Asher & Sunny **Due to our size, no small children   If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative. ****Puppies and kittens will be fixed when they are 5 months old. When they are adopted younger than 5 months, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. June 17, 2024, 4:22 pm

Fritz is a very sweet and loving boy. He will make a fantastic companion. He is FIV+ but that is just a label. We know cats can live just as long as non FIV cats. He, unfortunately doesn't like other cats . He wants all the attention for himself. If you give this sweet boy a chance you will not be disappointed.June 19, 2024, 5:55 pm

Story
Say hello to Tanana (from the Brother Bear siblings). Tanana was one of three kittens who were dumped in a cardboard box with their mom in a neighborhood at 24 hours old. She has thrived in their foster home and is now looking for her forever home! Tanana is a confident kitten, always full of playfulness and energy. She doesn’t seek out mischief, but she is a very adventurous gal who loves to see what her humans are into. She’s very entertaining! Consider adopting her with her sister, Sitka - two kittens is always better than one! Even if she doesn’t go with her sister , she’d do best in a home with other pets that she can play with. She does well with older children too! Consider giving Tanana a forever home! She’ll be ready after June 13th!June 19, 2024, 5:55 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Retired mama, Willow, has raised her babies (and some extra) and is now ready for the good life of retirement. She’s likely between 1-2 years old. She was set outside in a box when her babies were just 24 hours old. She stayed with those babies until help arrived. She was an excellent mom and will make an excellent addition to any household. She is fine with cats and dogs and kids. She’s very well mannered and is a loyal companion. She snuggles and plays, and will do anything for wet food. She enjoys looking out of windows and basking in the sun. A cat tree in a sunny spot would be exactly her idea of a retirement present. She wants all of the pets and love and doesn’t mind being the center of attention. She’s ready for some rest and relaxation. Consider making Willow a part of your family. You won’t regret it. Willow will be ready at the end of June.June 19, 2024, 5:55 pm
