Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. **Note: Currently, Camper is in Korea, but he will fly to Vancouver upon adoption. Background This handsome boy was rescued from a slaughterhouse in the summer of 2022 in Daegu, Korea. After his rescue, he lived in a local shelter for three years but couldn’t find a home in Korea. After hearing his story, we brought him to our boarding house, knowing that a loving family is waiting for him in Canada or the US. His forever home is out there, and he is ready to find it. Personality & Behavior Camper is a wonderful Border Collie with a sweet and gentle personality. He has medium energy, much calmer than a typical Border Collie, making him well-mannered and easygoing. He is social and friendly, not shy around strangers, and he gets along beautifully with other dogs. Camper is never dominant or aggressive; he is always polite and affectionate. Among people at the shelter, he is one of the sweetest and most popular dogs, loved by volunteers for his friendly and gentle nature. Daily Life & Habits Camper is well-behaved both indoors and outdoors. He goes potty outside and is easy to care for. He handles bath time and car ride well, and walks nicely on leash, though he sometimes gets excited by new sights during walks. He does not like being caged but has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior. Camper is simply a sweet, well-mannered boy who makes life easy and enjoyable.
