Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Charlotte — the tiniest, sweetest little bean who thinks she’s 50% cuddle bug and 50% chaos gremlin. She’s soft, snuggly, and absolutely convinced your lap is the center of the universe. She  might  still get a little nippy around food (girl loves her snacks, okay?), but she’s learning that fingers are not appetizers. Charlotte is putting on weight slow and steady, like a dainty little marshmallow in the making. Potty training is going shockingly well for someone roughly the size of a mitten braving the cold. She’s learning to toddle around the house with the big dogs and even snoozed right next to them like a brave little loaf. She’s discovered toys now and has politely informed everyone that chewing is her new personality. With how quickly she’s growing stronger, full-on puppy playdates with the resident dogs are basically scheduled for next week. Charlotte may be tiny, but she’s got big “I’m gonna be trouble soon” energy — and we love her for it. Charlotte is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2025, 10:27 am

Story
We know, he`s stunning! Earl is a 1.5yr old Border Collie x. He is such a sweet and loving boy! You can tell right away when you meet him just how smart that he is! Earl has great recall and he knows sit/shake! Earl is newer to the shelter so we haven`t gotten to see him around kids, cats or dogs yet but he does go up to every kennel on the way out to try to make friends! Earl is 33lbs and his adoption fee is $200 plus tax. We do our very best in providing truthful information about our adoptable dogs. If you do not see information about one of our dogs’ personalities, it is because we do not know much about them yet. We do appreciate a dog meet and greet to see if the dogs are compatible, an appointment is helpful but not required. We can complete a cat introduction at the shelter in a safe manner to get a sense of the dog’s behavior towards cats. With that knowledge, we will provide a blanket statement that you are ultimately responsible for keeping your cat safe. We recommend crate training for all our dogs while they adjust to a new home environment. Please bring along your family to meet the dog you’re looking at to see that it is a good fit. Also bring landlord permission for adopting a dog which includes any breed or weight restrictions.
